Good Evening Jaguars!

Just a reminder there is no school October 5-16 for Fall Break. Sterling will be open on October 5 for the OSF Mobile Van for physicals and sports physicals from 10:00-3:00.

October 15 is quickly approaching. We still have about 30 students who have not turned in your child’s physical and immunization records. The deadline is approaching fast and if we do not receive this documentation your child will be excluded from school when we return from fall break on Monday, October 19th. We MUST have all students turn in updated physical and shot records. If your child has an appointment, please send official documentation of the appointment card or if you go to a clinic or doctor’s office over fall break please email the documentation to [email protected]

The OSF Mobile van will be at Sterling on Monday, October 5th from 10:00-3:00, One important reminder is that a parent/guardian must remain with the student for the appointment. If the parent/guardian is not present, the provider will not be able to see the student

Our 5th graders continuing their "Matter Mysteries" science lab! They were challenged to answer the question: "How can we design a substance with certain properties?"
Using flour, cornstarch, salt, cream of tartar, and water, students experimented with different ingredient ratios to create a custom clay recipe that could hold and maintain its shape.

We have talented Jaguars at Sterling! Ms. Linda did a great job getting students to be creative and show off their artistic talents. Sterling participated in the Paint a Plow project for the City of Peoria and the final product is complete. Hopefully we will see our plow on the streets this winter representing Sterling! We are so proud!

Our 5th graders stepped into the role of young scientists today, using their knowledge of the properties of matter to design and build their very own lava lamps!
By combining oil, water, food coloring, and antacid tablets—and weighing their systems with digital scales—they got a hands-on look at density, chemical reactions, and the Law of Conservation of Mass. 🌋💡

Welcome to Mystery Matters: Ms. Ulanie’s 5th Grade Science Lab! 💡⚡
This week, our 5th graders stepped into the shoes of electrical engineers to explore hands-on science!
Using battery holders, conductive wires, and small light bulbs, students built basic circuits to see how electrical energy travels in a complete loop (a closed circuit) to light up the bulb.

Good Evening Jaguars!

6th Grade Parents we NEED your help! We have many students that still need to get their child’s physical and immunization records turned into the office to Nurse Sam. The deadline is fast approaching and if we do not receive this documentation by Friday, October 2 your child will be excluded from school when we return from fall break. We MUST have all students turn in updated physical and shot records. We have many students who do not have current immunization records. If your child has an appointment, please send official documentation of the appointment card to [email protected]

On Wednesday, September 30th we will be having our PTO meeting. We were impressed by the last turn out, but we hope to see more families join us. We will be planning our October Backyard BBQ Night, and we would love your input and help planning! We will meet from 5:00-6:00 in the library. We hope to see you there!

Don’t forget Friday, October 2nd is the last day before Fall Break. This will be a regular school day from 7:30-2:30. Let’s show our school spirit and dress in our RCA House colors. Students can be OUT OF UNIFORM on Friday, October 2. Get ready, get set, go….which House will show the most spirit!
