Interested in volunteering with Harmonize Peoria?
Here are our current projects:
IGNITE PEORIA 2026:
We need volunteers for our Musical Petting Zoo at Ignite Peoria on Saturday, August 8, 2026. The event lasts from 9am to 5pm.
The idea is to bring all our donated instruments and give people a chance to try them out... and I'd like someone knowledgeable there to show them how to play something on the instruments.
The goal will be to take a few minutes with someone who is curious enough to pick up an instrument, and possibly spark some desire to learn more. I always tell volunteers that our two main goals are to make sure the kids have fun and keep instruments from hitting the floor - if you can do that, you're golden.

SOUNDPROOFING:
Harmonize Peoria received a generous donation from the Maggie Bertram Foundation to soundproof our building. This will allow us to schedule more lessons simultaneously. Unfortunately, we undrestimated the amount of difficulty involved and our staff lacks the skills to install it ourselves.
Ideally, we need 2-4 volunteers to assist us with the project. It is fabric soundproofing material that needs cut to size and put between our drop ceiling in the basement and the floor above. It is not technically difficult, but volunteers must have at least some DIY handyman experience.
Volunteers will need to efficiently cut the material (similar to cutting through very thick carpet padding), remove the ceiling tiles, and get the soundproofing into the space above the drop ceiling.
This project is an important next step in growing our organization.
Please let us know if you can help through the form linked below!
________
INSTRUMENT INVENTORY:
Over the years, Harmonize Peoria has been blessed with donations of instruments and music equipment of all kinds. As our inventory has grown, we've realized it's time to create a more detailed catalog so we know exactly what we have, what condition it's in, and how we can put it to the best use.
We're looking for volunteers with knowledge of musical instruments, audio equipment, or repairs to help us identify items, estimate their value, note anything that needs repair, and recommend the best use for each piece. In some cases, that may mean adding an instrument to one of our programs. In other cases, it may mean recommending that we sell or trade an item that doesn't fit our mission so the proceeds can help purchase equipment our students need.
If you'd like to help, please fill out our volunteer form below and select the inventory/cataloging option. Be sure to tell us a little about your experience with instruments, repairs, or music equipment so we can match volunteers with the areas where they'll be most helpful.

PPD POWER LUNCHES:
When school starts back up, Harmonize Peoria will once again be participating in the Peoria Park District's Power Lunches. This means I'll be taking a limited number of instruments and amps to local schools every Friday, giving kids and teens the chance to try them out and giving us the chance to tell them about lessons.
This program requires about 2 hours of your time on any Friday that you are involved. If you are interested in possibly helping with this, check that box on the volunteer form and I will reach out once more details come in from the Peoria Park District.
