We got back this afternoon from Barbie's 1st Annual Watermelon Festival Tech Session Camp Out!
The event was open to all clubs, members, and anyone in the wider VW community who felt like cruisin' up, and a solid crew did exactly that. We managed to get multiple vehicles worked on (around 13 by our unofficial tally), the food was awesome, and somehow we even stayed mostly dry thanks to some very generous hosts.
The couple of little rain showers (really not a big deal!) may have scared a few folks off, but the turnout was still so good it was hard to notice we were a bit light... but Mostly we OSSi characters turned out, good job, crew!
We're waiting on Barbie's official post-event debrief for the real statistics. In the meantime, a huge thank you to Barbie and Mark Cecil for opening up their tools, shop space, and entire compound to the VW chaos for the whole weekend. Between keeping us dry, the entertainment, treats, and multiple meals, you two spoiled a bunch of grown adults who still can't stop playing with our old cars.
We had a blast. Already looking forward to next year! See you again!

OSSi organizers always get asked what event is happening next week, this month, tomorrow, or even yesterday. Its hard to find a good date for your own event that doesnt conflict with something else.
And we all know how that goes, we've seen it. Some muppet double-books because they were too lazy to check around. The result is often regarded as insulting and causes division. OUCH!
No excuses anymore.
We now have a simple utility.
No Facebook account needed.
No walls.
No fees.
No gates.
No secret handshakes.
No drama.
Just a clean calendar that shows every VW event within about 200ish miles of Pensacola.
You don't even have to be an OSSi member.
All VW friendly events are welcome: cruises, tech sessions, shows... Whatcha got?
Anyone will be able to submit an event.
No favorites.
No cliques.
No gaslighting.
No playing games.
We're all in this together or you're out of luck.
