Workforce Education Inservice Day at George Stone Technical College!
What a great day of learning, celebrating, and coming together as a team!
Our Workforce Education Inservice Day gave us the opportunity to hear from some incredible leaders and community partners, including:
⭐ Steve Harrell, Director of Workforce Education
⭐ Keith Leonard, ECPS Superintendent
⭐ Jo McArthur, Foundation Director
⭐ Carolyn Gray, BRACE
⭐ Jenny McKinney, Synovus Pinnacle Bank
We took time to celebrate our successes across our teachers, schools, and departments and recognize the incredible work happening throughout Workforce Education. We are proud of the impact our faculty and staff make every day in creating opportunities that transform lives!
A delicious Chick-fil-A breakfast was provided by iCEV, and J's Bakery & Cafe catered a wonderful lunch sponsored by Synovus Pinnacle Bank. We are so thankful for our community partners who continue to support our staff and students!
We wrapped up the day with professional development opportunities, including: Better Together: Building Stronger PLCs workshop and CPR & AED Basic Training for those interested in becoming better prepared to respond in an emergency.
Days like today remind us that we truly are better together! When our teachers, staff, community partners, and leaders work together, we create stronger programs, stronger schools, and greater opportunities for our students.

Today we want to take a moment to recognize and thank Susan Shockley, our Co-Op Coordinator at George Stone Technical College!
Susan plays such an important role in helping our students take the next step toward successful careers. She helps students find employment, search for jobs, build resumes, and prepare for the workforce—always ready to lend a helping hand when students need guidance.
She also manages our Co-Op Program, helping students transition into real-world employment opportunities once they have completed the required hours in their program. Through Co-Op, students gain valuable hands-on experience while putting the skills they have learned at GSTC to work.
Susan is also responsible for coordinating our Advisory Council meetings and works closely with our many industry partners, helping strengthen the connections between George Stone and the businesses that employ our graduates.
Susan, thank you for everything you do for our students, our industry partners, and George Stone Technical College! Your dedication helps create opportunities that can truly transform lives.
We appreciate you, Susan!

Meet Michele Kelson – Electrical Apprenticeship Coordinator!
Behind every successful apprenticeship program is someone making sure all the pieces come together—and at George Stone Technical College, that person is Michele Kelson!
Michele coordinates with our industry partners, interviews prospective students, and manages student schedules to help make sure our apprentices have the support and opportunities they need to succeed.
So, what makes the Electrical Apprenticeship Program special?
Our apprentices get the best of both worlds! They have the opportunity to learn the electrical trade on the job during the day while attending class two nights a week. This hands-on approach allows students to gain valuable real-world experience while building the knowledge and skills needed for a successful career in the electrical field.
We are proud of the partnerships that make this program possible—and grateful for the dedication Michele brings to helping students learn, grow, and prepare for a rewarding career!
Thank you, Michele, for all you do for our students and industry partners!
Learn a skill. Gain experience. Build your future.
Our teachers are ready for a successful year.

Teachers Are Back at George Stone Technical College!
Today was a great day at George Stone Technical College as our faculty and staff came back together to prepare for another successful school year!
We kicked things off with Principal Stephen Brooks introducing our new mission statement:
“To create opportunities that transform lives.”
Those words truly capture what we do every day at George Stone — creating opportunities, building skills, opening doors, and helping our students prepare for brighter futures.
Today was all about reconnecting, collaborating, sharing ideas, and getting ready to welcome our students back. Our teachers are excited, energized, and ready to make this school year a great one!
Here’s to a new school year filled with opportunities, growth, success, and lives transformed!
Welcome back, GSTC faculty! Let’s make it a great year!
