The Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church, was added to the liturgical calendar in 2018. The day celebrates the Blessed Mother under the title officially conferred upon her during the Second Vatican Council. The feast recognizes Mary standing at the foot of the cross when Jesus gives us Mary as the Mother of the Church. As St. John Paul II once remarked, "[the title] reflects the deep conviction of the Christian faithful, who see in Mary not only the mother of the person of Christ, but also of the faithful."

Pope St. John I became Pope in 523 and served until his death in 526. Despite being sickly, he was elected Pope and took on a challenging period in the church. The Ostrogoth King, King Theodoric, sent John to the Emperor of Constantinople to sort out how to bring back former A***ns into the Catholic Church. Pope John I asked that people who once believed in A***nism be treated with respect but to ultimately be corrected. King Theodoric, who was an A***n, was not pleased with Pope John I’s handling of the situation, so he had him killed. Because John was steadfast in defending the truths of the faith, even to death, he is recognized as a martyr.

St. Isidore the Farmer was born in 1070 in Madrid. He was born into a very poor family, but learned the faith from his parents and was named after St. Isidore of Seville. At a young age, he became a farmer. He married Maria Torribia, also known as María de la Cabeza in Spain. Together they had a son, and lived a holy life. St. Isidore would attend Mass every morning before going into the fields. As he worked, St. Isidore would pray, dedicating himself to a life of work and prayer. He died in the mid 1100s and was canonized in 1622; his wife was beatified in 1697. St. Isidore is the patron saint of farmers, and many rural Spanish speaking communities have festivals for his feast day.

The Ascension of the Lord is a Christian feast day commemorating the day Jesus Christ physically ascended into Heaven 40 days after his Resurrection, marking the completion of his earthly mission. It signifies that his humanity has entered God's heavenly domain, and it serves as a moment of hope and a call to continue his work by spreading the Gospel, a mission empowered by the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.

Pope Pius XII established the Feast of Saint Joseph the Worker in 1955 to promote devotion to Saint Joseph and counter Communist "May Day" celebrations. The feast highlights the dignity of human labor, rooted in biblical teachings and exemplified by Saint Joseph, a carpenter and Jesus' foster father. Jesus himself also worked as a carpenter. The Church, as noted by Pope John Paul II, upholds the dignity and rights of workers and seeks to address injustices against them. Saint Joseph is presented as an ideal model of holy and dignified labor.
