This summer, the UWF Archaeology Institute’s Jennifer Melcher is leading a team of students in excavating a site on UWF’s Pensacola campus, where artifacts dating back potentially 3,000 years are helping researchers uncover a story of human persistence along the Northern Gulf Coast.
Through her research, the senior faculty research associate is not only helping preserve the past but also providing students with hands-on field experience that prepares them for their future careers.

The UWF UWF Academy of American Civic Republicanism, in collaboration with The Adam Smith Center for Economic Freedom at FIU, will host America at 250: Civic Republicanism, Economic Freedom and Dynamic Citizenship on Aug. 21-22.
