๐ TRIO Talent Search Middle School Students Toured George Stone Technical College ๐
Our TRIO Talent Search middle school students had a wonderful and informative visit to George Stone Technical College! Assistant Principal Megan Carroll offered a warm welcome, and Stephanie Edwards provided an excellent tour and overview of the programs available at the college. Her guidance ensured that students gained meaningful insights throughout their visit.
Students were able to observe workshops and classrooms firsthand, giving them a closer look at various career pathways. They also learned about the Criminal Justice programs from Michael Simmons, the program coordinator, who shared valuable information about opportunities in the field.
To conclude the visit, Chef Vaningan and the culinary students prepared an impressive and delicious taco lunch that the students thoroughly enjoyed. ๐ฎ
Thank you to the George Stone staff for hosting our students! The TRIO students were excited and all smiles at the end of the visit!

TRIO ETS juniors and seniors participated in a wonderful and informative tour of Pensacola State College!
At the end of the tour, interested seniors were provided the opportunity to complete PSC applications.
We thank the PSC recruitment staff for helping make the tour such a great day for our students!

TRIO Talent Search Juniors & Seniors Toured UWF!
Our TRIO Talent Search juniors and seniors spent the day exploring the University of West Florida!
First, they learned about UWF and the admissions requirements from Monique Cossich, Associate Director of University Admissions.
Next, they took a walking tour with highlights including:
-TRIO Student Support Services
-Residence Hall (including a sample dorm room)
-Library
-University Commons
-Health, Leisure and Sports Facility
-Business, Fine & Performing Arts, Science, Health/Nursing, and Cybersecurity programs
At the conclusion of the tour, seniors ready to take the next step visited the Admissions Office to complete their UWF applications.

Our TRIO ETS seniors have been hard at work completing college applications during our College Application Workshop, and families joined us for our FAFSA Workshop to successfully submit their financial aid forms. At both workshops, we also provided helpful college resources to guide students and families through the application and financial aid process.

TRIO ETS has had a fantastic and productive month! We kicked off the fall season with student orientations in Santa Rosa and Escambia counties, where we introduced the TRIO ETS program and handed out school supplies to help students start the year strong.

TRIO Talent Search students and their families gathered at Pensacola State College for a special Financial Literacy Night hosted by Pen Air Credit Union! Families learned valuable money management skills to help build a brighter financial future. ๐ก๐ต
A big thank you to Casey Brueske from Pen Air for helping coordinate the event, and to Debbie Rhodes for her engaging and informative presentation on smart money habits! ๐
And of course, the evening was made even better with a delicious Chick-fil-A dinner provided by Pen Air! ๐

๐โจPensacola State College Tour โจ๐
Our TRIO Educational Talent Search middle schoolers had an unforgettable day of exploration and inspiration at PSC!
๐ฅ First stop: a behind-the-scenes tour of WSRE, where students got a glimpse into the world of broadcasting.
๐ซ While on campus at Pensacola State College, students continued their journey with a guided tour that included:
-Visiting the new Technology Building to experience a real college classroom.
-Walking through Cosmetic Arts to see creativity in action.
-Stopping by the Switzer Center for Visual Arts, where Amber Carey, Chelsea Weaver, and Christopher White shared insights about the Robinson Honors Program and the arts.
-Receiving a warm welcome in Building 6, where students met TRIO and CTE directors and staff and learned about their programs.
๐ฝ๏ธ After a delicious lunch, the adventure continued at the Planetarium with "Tales of a Time Traveller." Then, Allison Spaldin guided us through the stars and constellations at the end of our visit. ๐
๐ The day wrapped up with a fun and competitive Kahoot review game of the day's eventsโcomplete with prizes!

We had a wonderful Senior Recognition Ceremony at the PSC Student Center to honor our Talent Search seniors. Each student in attendance received a medallion and certificate. ๐๏ธ๐
Special thanks to Dr. Douma, Dean of Grants and Federal Programs, and Marcy Matthews-Bethea, Director of TRIO Student Support Services, for their inspiring speeches at our ceremony. ๐ค๐
