When I began teaching at Leitz Music - Pensacola, I started with one student. That student was young Keith, here. We focus on drum kit, but have also reached out into the myriad world of percussion: recently, we talked about the tambourine and maracas/shakers, and how there is much more to playing these proficiently than meets the eyes and the ears. There is a slight delay between when these are physically moved to a beat and when the sound is produced. One must compensate for this delay, prioritizing focus on the sound of the instrument over the movement of the arms & hands in rhythm. Excellent effort, Keith, getting your feet wet with some hand percussion!
