Looking for a summer program for your little movers? Look no further than Pensacola Youth Ballet. Our summer programs offer something for everyone with beginner to intermediate and advanced camps. Our Itsy Bitsy Ballet camp is nursery rhyme inspired and themed around its own original story and character! Your child will love learning new skills in this creative and fun camp. Tutu Tales, for our 6-8 year olds will provide your child focused ballet technique while teaching them about the cultures and many dances their favorite characters might do. Your little princess will thrive in this inspiring fantasy! Finally, our Ignite Ballet camp is created for just that…. To Ignite your child’s passion for and love of ballet. Three and a half hours daily of technique, pointe, variations, cross training and other dance styles, this intensive is designed to lift your child up and encourage them to new heights. Timothée Chalamet recently received backlash for saying he "didn't want to be working in ballet or opera" because he feels they are dying art forms that "no one cares about anymore"…..
Not only does this show a lack of knowledge and experience but it’s also simply false. Here are just a few statistics that demonstrate the growth and increased interest in ballet over the last 48 years. I think ballet has never seen a greater time and is thriving!

1. In the 1980s there were only 58-78 professional ballet companies in America. Now there are approximately 1,345 registered ballet companies in the United States!

2. The average budget for the top ten professional ballet companies in the 1980’s was 5 million dollars. Today the top 10 American ballet companies operate with an average annual budget of approximately $38 million to $45 million+ per company

3. In the 1980s the top ten professional American ballet companies existed soley as a singular entity. Today these same companies operate a second company, trainee program, or studio company to act as a bridge between training and a professional career.

4. There are over 188,000+ active, professional, and personal YouTube channels dedicated to, or heavily featuring, ballet.

Pensacola Youth Ballet is so happy to have been able to award $6,400 this year in Legacy Scholarship Awards!! The Legacy Awards honors the Matriarchs of Pensacola’s ballet community. It was established to further the art of ballet in our area by providing ballet training and opportunities to its recipients. Each school that participates in our Community Nutcracker performance receives a portion of our ticket proceeds in the form of a scholarship that can then be awarded at their school. Along with their scholarship, each studio is given a brief history of the person the scholarship is named after. This years recipients were LaBelle Performing Arts receiving the Dorothy Lister Legacy Award, Perdido Performing Arts receiving the Nannette Grimm Legacy Award, and Five Star Dance Centre receiving the Bernadette Clement Sims Legacy Award. Congratulations to each of these studios and we so thank you for participating in the Pensacola Youth Ballet’s Community Nutcracker each year. What an honor it is to serve our dance community with this awesome team!!

Please join us Saturday December 6th at UWF’s Mainstage Theatre for this most beloved Christmas classic Pensacola Youth Ballet’s Community Nutcracker. 2:00 & 7:00 performances. Set in the 1920’s with scenery by Broadway designer David Tousley, costumes by local artist Jeannie Atwell, choreography by company Director Michael Wardlaw and featuring local talents from Perdido Performing Arts, Five Star Dance Centre, LaBelle Performing Arts, and Pensacola Youth Ballet.
