🚨Attention Undergraduate Students🚨 Are you interested in pursuing a career in political science? Are you looking for paid research experience that benefits your opportunities, resume, and degree? Good news! 🎉 The Summer Program in Accountability, Behavior, and Conflict in Democratic Politics is currently seeking to hire undergraduate students for 8-week internship positions, occurring in Nashville, Tennessee.
During the program, REU co-directors, faculty affiliates, and selected graduate students will guide participants through two complementary research experiences: students spend three-quarters of their research time on a mentored independent project and one-quarter’s effort collaborating on a faculty affiliate’s project. Students attend skill-building sessions on research design, scientific inference, data analysis, professionalization, research communication, faculty research presentations, and career panels.
Applications for Summer 2024 positions are open NOW until January 19, 2024.

Interesting local story that may just include Dr. Shively dropping our namesake, Reubin O'D. Askew.
Escambia commissioners can't meet in private. So why are they meeting in public less? Public meetings meant for commissioners to discuss county business before voting on it haven't been held for a year and none are planned for 2024.

Our own Dr. Merry Beth Low with a fascinating, interdisciplinary "Group Storytelling" project. You can check out the images and see the description from CASSH below...
"In Dr. Low's Honors Core Humanities class, students are exploring the question of what it means to be human.
"The first part of this course has focused on the Italian Renaissance as setting the framework for western individualism and humanism.
"As a bridge to the next part of class, where students will explore what it means to be human in light of the Digital Age, AI, etc., students participated in a "Group Storytelling" activity, inspired by Boccaccio's Decameron, in the Community Garden.
"The purpose of this activity was to disengage from technology and reconnect with our individual stories, our natural environment, and our peers.
"Dr. Jasara Norton helped orient students before our activity in the tradition of nature writing. Students prepared their stories in nature, then shared their stories in small groups in the community garden, with prompts and themes adapted from and inspired by The Decameron.
"Students then reflected on the process of both creating their stories in nature, as well as the meaningful interactions they had with their peers during the group storytelling sessions in the Community Garden."

"This was an incredibly sophisticated attack. There's very, very, very few groups that could have pulled this off," University of West Florida's Dr. Brian Crisher said. "This is land, sea and air coordinated all together. It's stunning for an actor like Hamas to be able to pull this off."
Unexpected sophistication of Hamas attack surprises Israel: UWF political science professor weighs in PENSACOLA, Fla. -- Israel is one of the most defended countries in the world, renowned for its intelligence capabilities. Yet the wrath of Hamas exploded seemin
