The Pensador is not a single shield position.

Shielding appears throughout the martial arts. I have encountered different versions in Muay Thai, Lethwei, Cambodian boxing, Filipino Panantukan, Indonesian Silat, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and many other systems.

Protecting the head when something dangerous is coming toward it is a natural response of the human machine.

The Pensador is a living family of protective structures.

The hands, arms, shoulders, and torso must be able to articulate while the practitioner remains protected. The structure can receive pressure, strike, clear an obstruction, manipulate an opponent’s arms, preserve visual access, and transition from one shielding relationship to another.

That sounds relatively simple until pressure is introduced.

Beginning students commonly learn one recognizable shape and then lock it into position when speed, contact, or uncertainty increases. The deeper skill is learning to keep the shield alive while the environment and tactical problem continue changing.

The shape is only the beginning.

The real Pensador appears when the protective method comes alive under pressure.

Professionally, I have one goal in Pensacola: To build a community of likeminded capable citizens.
Armed civilians, martial artists, security personnel, responders, instructors, survivors of all types, and those who aspire to be any of the above. Sound like you? Message me, let’s connect.

The Four-Man Box is one of the most valuable training laboratories within the Keysi Fighting Method.

It is sometimes misunderstood as an uncontrolled four-on-one fight or simply a pressure drill. That misses its deeper purpose.

The Four-Man Box gives us a structured environment for investigating how a technique or principle changes when the practitioner must account for threats, movement, and relationships in every direction.

The goal is not to prove that one person can defeat four people. The goal is to study what happens when the person directly in front of you is no longer the only concern.

Used intelligently, the drill becomes a place to ask better questions, test our assumptions, and discover whether our methods can adapt beyond a familiar stance, angle, or training relationship.

We explore the structure, purpose, progression, and safety principles of the Four-Man Box in this article:

Shout out to the Morgans for working hard and making my last time teaching in the old Madison HQ a memorable one. It was a fitting last session where I got to share some of my favorite concepts with good people who really “get” the importance of being capable citizens.

4 hours of:
-General Combatives
-Edged Weapon Defense
-Handgun Defense
-Concealed Carry Retention
-Home Defense Maneuvers

Thanks gents, hope you’ll join us later in ‘26 for hometown live fire training 👊
