Last night (Friday, June 25) at 9:30 pm Joana Adams, beloved wife of PTI's Director, Richard Adams, stepped into the arms of her Savior. She had of late struggled with illness, and a combination of infections just after this year's successful PTI drew to a close proved too much for her body and, having served God's purpose in her generation, she entered into glory.

Joana loved her family to the uttermost, giving of herself without hesitation and with sacrificial devotion. She knew how much PTI meant to Richard and was by his side every day serving with him and greeting people.

Her achievements are many, including a successful career in health care administration, but her greatest earthly love was her family--being a wife, mother, and grandmother. But above all else she loved Jesus.

Please pray for Richard and their children Rich and Jordan, as they trust the Lord and learn to live on this side of glory without her wisdom, wit, and encouragement. Praise God the Gospel is true--and that they will see her again.

The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming (he who is called Christ). When he comes, he will tell us all things.” Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am he.” John 4:25-26 (ESV)

We should have registration information up and running by the end of this week or early next week. Also, we plan to have a massive bookstore carrying the works of our speakers who will be available for questions and to personally sign their works.

We learned this morning that Dr. J.I. Packer has passed from death to life and now sits in heaven conversing with our Lord and the other great saints of days gone by. I'm sure many of them are picking his brain as much as he theirs.

Dr. Packer's influence on Reformed Evangelical Christianity was immeasurable over his lifetime and will go on forever in his timeless works. Millions have been deeply influenced by "Knowing God," as was this author many years ago. Dr. Packer was dedicated to making the most arcane of theological concepts understandable to the layman, and this has always been the goal of PTI as well.

Dr. Packer was a great friend of The Pensacola Theological Institute and was our featured speaker many times. He was a close friend of former McIlwain Presbyterian Church pastor and PTI Director, the Rev. Don Dunkerley and family, and could often be found in the congregation on Sundays when he was visiting them.

We hereby dedicate the 2021 Pensacola Theological Institute to Dr. J.I. Packer, the most eminent of theologians and friend of PTI. You will be sorely missed, but we look forward to the day that we will see you again. Until then we press on as you would have wanted.

In God's wonderful providence, the picture below of the 1981 PTI, shows Dr. Packer sitting in the very middle of the front row with the giant pulpit Bible seemly sitting in his lap -- as it was in reality -- the very foundation of his worldview. May it be so for all of us.

The Rev. Ed Johnson (89), went to be with his Savior on Sunday, January 26. Rev. Johnson was a long-time friend of PTI founder Rev. Don Graham and a frequent participant at the Institute over the years. Please remember his family in your prayers.
