The market is chaotic. Your inbox is chaotic. Your cravings are chaotic.
The Stoic returns to what is in his control.
For Epictetus, it was his choices. For us, it's what we put in the pan.

This isn't about restriction. It's about intention. A simple meal made with discipline will always nourish more than a feast made in excess.

THE TEMPERANCE BOWL - Charred Lemon, Lentil & Herb

This is my go-to when I need clarity. High protein, high fiber, anti-inflammatory. 30 minutes. One pan.

Ingredients (serves 2):
1 cup French green lentils, rinsed
2 cups low-sodium vegetable broth / water
1 large lemon, halved
1 cup cherry tomatoes
2 handfuls baby spinach / arugula
1/2 red onion, finely diced
1/4 cup fresh parsley + mint, chopped
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 tbsp tahini
1 tsp cumin, salt + cracked pepper

Method:
Control the base: Simmer lentils in broth with cumin until tender (20 mins). Drain any excess.
This is your foundation.
Embrace the fire: In a hot, dry skillet, sear lemon halves cut-side down and tomatoes until charred.
This is amor fati - we use the heat, we don't fear it.
Combine with intention: In a bowl, whisk 1 tbsp lemon juice from the charred lemon, olive oil, tahini, salt, pepper. Toss lentils, onion, spinach while warm so it wilts slightly.
Finish simple: Top with tomatoes, herbs, and the charred lemon half.
