UWF Office of Undergraduate Research The Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) facilitates and supports undergraduate student engagement in research and scholarly activities.

The Office of Undergraduate Research provides support for undergraduate scholarly activities across all disciplines at the University. OUR offers two types of awards: Student Project Awards and Travel Awards. These awards are intended to foster research partnerships between faculty and UWF’s most promising undergraduate students. Starting Fall 2015, OUR will be initiating the Student Scholars program. The Scholars program aims to aid students in professional development and educate ways to properly communicate research or research experience.

Great opportunity! If you are a Psychology Major or interested in psychological concepts, the Department of Psychology is seeking undergraduate students for a research assistant position. These are following faculty mentors and their research:

Dr. Lisa Blalock – Analysis of Memory and Physiological Performance after Stimulation Conditioning and Cold Pressor Exposure. Study how ctVNS and Cold Pressor Method may have an effect on memory performance and physiological response. Preferred qualification includes a psychology major, previous psychology courses, and some knowledge in physiology.

Dr. Neil Dundon – Investigation of Brain Wave Correlation with Decision Making using EEG and Physiological Monitoring. This study would help identify neural markers related to Parkinson’s disease and dementia. Research assistant will perform data collection, participant management, and
basic data processing.

Dr. Chelsea Greer – In-depth Study of Individual
Response to a New Group Environment. Research assistant will conduct a study on
how people who belong with specific groups, responds to external groups with potential
offensive behaviors. The research candidate must be a Psychology major who has
taken Research Methods & Statistics.

Attention all UWF undergraduates! Are you ready to gain hands-on experience by working with research mentors on projects tailored to your interests? Apply for the OUR Explorers Program! Applications are open now for Spring 2027 and are due by October 26, 2026.

The Explorers Program is designed to spark interest in research and creative activities among undergraduate students with little to no prior research experience. Preference will be given to first- and second-year students. Current undergraduate, degree-seeking students in good academic standing with the University are eligible to apply.

As an OUR Explorer, students can expect to:
- Gain hands-on research experience
- Shadow multiple faculty members aligned with your degree and career goals
- Participate in professional development workshops tailored to first-time researchers
- Discover your passion within your field of study
- Explore various research groups to find your area of interest
