Complaint and Grievance
It is our goal to make your kids and children happy and comfortable in our center. Therefore any positive comments or suggestions are appreciated and can be made to the Director of the facility. We always welcome you with some feedback toward the care of your child. Any question, discussion that affects a positive of your child will be appreciated by the director. However, if you feel that there’s a problem we are welcome for you to follow the steps as listed:
* Speak with the educator involved with your child.
* Allow follow up from the educator to you.
* If you are still not satisfied with the results of your concerns, please make an appointment to personally talk to the Director.
If a parent has any problem or complaint about the staff member work it will also head it to the Director. This will make the Director be aware of any problem that the center is dealing with. Any complaint that the parent has the Director will listen carefully to the issues and will attempt to work with them to fix it. We know that parents don’t see their children all day and they are concerned about what is going on when they are not with their children. That’s why we recognize that you have the right to expect the best care possible for your children. If the case is that the parent is not happy with the discussion and they are moving their children there are welcome to do it. It there children and we can’t make them stay in our center.

Arrival & Departure Policies:
Our center opens at 7:30am. We are unable to accept children for the care center before 7:30 a.m. without prior arrangements.
Children and parents must have their face mask when they drop off for the safety of everyone. Parents need to sign in on our records papers with parents and children's full name, date and time they droop-off. Remember to list a phone number where a parent can be reached every day.
If a child will be arriving late or will be absent please let me know ahead of time.

Departure Procedure
Our center closes at 6:30 p.m. Please plan ahead so you can arrive at time to pick up your children. Make sure your children take everything they bring and if there’s any activities and important information in their folder.
If someone other than the parent comes to pick them up they should list their information in our records so we can let the children with them. The person needs to show an ID or license to be verified.
If the children are not picked up by the time the child care center closes 6:30 p.m. without any notifications we will call the parents. And if they don’t answer we will contact the emergency number list on the children Enrollment Form. If the case is that no one has an answer and the children are still in care at 6:30 p.m. I will call social services and arrange for the child to be picked up. If the parent picks up the children late they will be a fee added.

Meals and Snacks
In Sunshine Child Care we participate in the USDA Child Care Food and Nutrition program where only healthy and nutritious foods are served in our program. For this reason is that we do not allow any outside food into our facility. Please do not bring fast food or any other foods from home to our center because, as part of your monthly tuition, we provide breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack. Let us know if your child has a food allergy, our cook will provide a healthy substitute for their meal/snack.
The only exception that we will allow for parents to bring outside food is on birthday celebration.

Dear Parents,
Child Care Licensing regulations recommend that sick children stay home until they’re well enough to go back to the center. This is typically about 24 hours after symptoms begin to improve. In some cases, however, it can be difficult to determine whether your child is well enough to return to school. Consider the following signs as you make your decision.
It’s best to keep your child at home if they have a temperature at or above 100.4°F. A fever indicates that the body is fighting off infection, which means that your child is vulnerable and likely contagious. Wait at least 24 hours after the fever has come down and stabilized without medication to consider sending your child back to school.
Vomiting and diarrhea are good reasons for your child to stay home. These symptoms are difficult to deal with at the center and show that the child is still capable of spreading the infection to others. Wait at least 24 hours after the last episode before considering a return to the facility.
Our program will administer medication such as antibiotics or other doctor-prescribed medications for children that are feeling better but still need to drink their medication.
Most importantly, go with your gut. You know your kids best. If your son has the sniffles but hasn't slowed down at home, chances are he's well enough for the classroom. But if he's been coughing all night and has a hard time getting up in the morning, he might need to take it easy at home.
When your child gets sick, keeping them home from the child care center can help them recover faster. It also helps prevent the virus from spreading to other children in the child care, which is critical to keeping everyone as healthy as possible.

POLICY UPDATE:
In Sunshine Child Care we will be implementing the following health procedures as a means to keep all children healthy and safe with in our care:
Cleaning & Disinfecting- Evey morning teachers will follow the procedure of disinfecting and cleaning every single room, tables, chairs. The toy that children get will be disinfected before and after they use them. Children will wash there hand before and after they go to the restroom, play and eat. In our classroom teacher will have a Germack‘s but we recommend to parents to give there children one so they can have them at all times.
Mask- In our facility masks are important so that everyone can be safe at all times. There will be a sign in the door entrance saying that everyone that enters will need to be using a mask. This includes children over the age 2 and adults. Those who enter without a mask will not be allowed to stay.
Social distancing strategies- Keping the group sizes small will help with social distancing because children are more likely not to be all together. And they will have their own toys or materials to play with. They will have more space to play but they are not going to be all tied up and together as they used to.
Drop off and Pick up procedures- All parents should ware a mask wen dropping and picking up there children. Parents will only be allowed to enter the lobby where a child care staff mmamber will perform a health check on your child.

Dress Code Policy:
Please dress your child each day with the Sunshine child care shirt uniform. We just ask parents for the children to be matching with the same shirts. When it comes to the pants they can match the weather condition. They are also outside and that’s why we don’t recommend all of the children to wear pants; they can use all types of bottoms based on the weather. Children must wear closed toed and closed heeled shoes to keep their feet safe. Crocs/clogs are not allowed. This will protect their feet while in classrooms, outside, and in the gym and other rooms in the school. The extra clothes for emergency should also meet the same guidelines.

Our Philosophy
Cognitive Based Philosophy
In our Sunshine Child Care Center we want our children to know that with playing they get to learn. And that there’s nothing wrong with having fun and learning at the same time. Using any type of materials or an object can be turn in to something that you learn from a core class.
Cognitive based, young children learn through active exploration in an environment which is in materials and opportunities to converse, socialize, work, play and negotiate with others. The classrooms are planned to encourage curiosity, exploration and problem solving in an atmosphere of warmth, affection and respect for each child.
Children may work individually or collaboratively, and may choose whether or not to participate in a project. Children are actively involved in experiences which include foundations of math, science, social studies, creative art, language arts, music, movement and dramatic play.
Activities, experiences and teacher-child interactions are constantly being measured and evaluated in terms of the following programs goals:
1. Development of a positive self-concept
2. Respect for the individuality and rights of others
3. Positive ways of interacting with peers and adults
4. Acceptance and expression of both positive and negative feelings
5. Growth of independence and self-sufficiency
6. Growth of creative thinking and problem solving
7. Cognitive growth and development
8. Emergent literacy development
9. Small and large muscle development

Dear Parents - as you know, we are licensed by the State of Texas Child Care Licensing Office. This means that our center has passed the minimum requirements of health, safety, and ensuring the well care of your child in the center. Even though these are minimum standards, I assure you that we go above and beyond the criteria for each standard. Here are a couple of examples:
According to Child Care Licensing, the center director or designee must inspect the active play space and equipment daily before children begin play to ensure there is no danger or risk present. We feel it is important that every tool, equipment are safe for all types of children ages. And teachers and myself as a director our number one priority is keeping your child safe. Another Licensing Standard is outdoor space requirement is that we must have 80 square feet of outdoor activity space for each child using the outdoor activity area at one time. And that they need to be supervised at all times. In our center we have gates so that children don’t go out where danger is. That’s why we have teachers supervise them all the time when they are playing outside.
If you want to know about what Child Care Licensing regulates, please stop by the office and I will be happy to share our latest compliance visit report with you.

EnroEnrollment Policies:
I strongly recommend that parents visit any child care center they are considering prior to enrolling. It's almost impossible to tell if a program is right for your child without seeing it in person.
It is important to schedule an interview so we can talk and discuss your child's learning, information about the program, the way that we will help your children in any type of needs and tour the premises. One of the importance about this open house for children is to be familiar with other kids and teachers. They can be comfortable in the classroom and that the first day they are not shy to be there. The day of the open house, be free to bring them that they will have fun. Be sure to allow 35-40 minutes so we can set and discuss your child’s special needs, program policies and to address all of your questions.
I want all parents to be comfortable on we’re their children's classroom can be, so during the interview you will receive a copy of my Credentials, our Daily Schedule, and other materials to help you choose their program.
Generally all interested families are interviewed before a decision is made, however in certain circumstances the opening may be filled before all of the scheduled interviews are completed.
It is important to Submit an Enrollment Application if you feel that this center is a best fit for your children.
Let me know that you intend to enroll your child within 24 hours of the interview and tour.
In order to reserve your child's space in the program, an Enrollment Application must be completed by both parents and submitted, along with the $25 enrollment fee and the first week's tuition, must be giving at the: Sunshine Child Care.

Tuition Policy:
At Sunshine Child Care Center, all tuition payments are due in full and in advance at the beginning of each month or earlier. The tuition can hold your child a space in our center and the tuition covers whether your child attends or is absent. The fee will be $25.00 and will be charged every week. Late tuition payment fee will be $10.00 and will be applied every week to each overdue account. The preference for these payment methods are credit/debit cards, but we will also accept personal checks and cash. All checks and cash must be given to the director or associate director. The center will have the option to refuse further payments by check and may require payment by credit/be it card, cash, or money orders. This is done so that you may not pay this amount with another check but only be with credit/debit card or cash. When the payment is done make sure that you have a copy of the received so that you can see all the fees that have been made.

Dear Parents,
Welcome to Sunshine Child Care- A safe place to learn, laugh and play!!
We are happy that you have chosen our center so that your child can meet the care center needs. Preschool is a place where children can express their own feelings, with a lot of wonder and building new friendships. Our center is filled with self- confidence, self- expression, independence, and the love of learning. Team and Family is important to this center because we want all parents to be involved in any type of activity and work and can take it home to children. Together we are a team and family.
As you know, at Sunshine Child Care we do not discriminate against children and families of different ethnicity, raise, ability or lifestyle. Everyone is welcome with warm arms at our center.
Always,
Ms. Augusto
