Definition of a FOIL: The Freedom of Information Law (FOIL), Article 6 (Sections 84-90 of the NYS Public Officers Law, provides the public right to access records maintained by government agencies with certain exceptions.

A member of the community had to appeal their FOIL request 3 times before receiving the complete information that by law Penfield Central School District should have provided when the 1st request was initiated.

The Superintendent, Dr. Tasha Potter of PCSD was the gate keeper of the information requested & she failed the community when she withheld the information. (This is a fact as the emails came from Dr. Potter to the community member)

The written responses to questions 8 & 22 of the survey were withheld when the leadership shared the results to the community. The written responses are in the images below this post.

The main takeaway from the FOIL request is simple, the district climate has declined & when the results were shared with the community, only half the story was told.

It is our responsibility as parents & community members to ask questions. Did you choose to purchase a home in Penfield to settle for mediocre or do you expect excellence, transparency & integrity?

Ask questions, pay attention, except more!

The Penfield Central School District community has a renewed hope for moving in the direction of transparency & accountability. The teachers can look forward to tomorrow with a sense of relief and hope.

Congratulations to Susan Kavanagh For Penfield School Board & Vote for Stacy Lonardo on their accomplishment of running a campaign that was honest & meaningful.

Please take note that there were only 3,500 voters today when Penfield has >29K registered voters. We need to do better. Voting is both a privilege & a civic duty.

The Parent Square message received tonight from Dr. Porter appears to have a whole new tone.

Another group was sent a letter from a teacher in the Penfield Central School District

Have you asked yourself how come the school district leadership hasn’t acknowledged the teacher concerns in the district?

It’s time all community members pay more close attention to what is happening in your children’s school each and every day.

Ask the teacher they’re assigned to. Ask a building principal.

Do your due diligence and vote Tuesday, May 19, 2026. It would be an educated guess on who the teachers and union prefer you vote for based on their endorsement. Review for yourself. Penfield Education Association

Parents & Guardians Penfield Central School District please ask Penfield Anti Racist Group (PARA) how come they are deleting comments from their posts?

Their platform has advertised to the school district and community that they are an inclusive, anti racist group who is transparent🤔

A recommendation to every parent or guardian in the Penfield Central School District:

Ask your child’s teacher if they received a letter from the Penfield Education Association President Bob Young recently that communicated the negative culture that is facing every employee that works for the district.

- Ask them if the uneasiness was a reality when Dr. Putnam was leading the school district
- Ask them if they feel they’re working in a safe & engaging environment 
- Ask them if they are feeling defeated
- Ask them if their mental health is suffering
-Ask them if they are facing retaliation

Thank them for showing up every single day & not allowing it to impact their classroom performance and their impactful relationship with every one of their students.

-Ask yourself if the parent square message received from Dr. Potter would ever be a message you would receive from the CEO of your current employer or a past employer?

Really dig deep within yourself to ask if this is a culture that you think will be sustainable for a school district to have retention & attraction for the best teachers & administrators in the future?
