🏹 Thank You for an Amazing 2026 Archery Boot Camp! 🏹

Astoria School of Archery would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in our 2026 Archery Boot Camp over the past two weeks! It was a pleasure working with each and every one of you, and we hope you had as much fun learning and improving your archery skills as we did teaching you.

A special thank you goes out to all of the parents and families who signed their children up, drove them to and from camp, and stayed to watch and cheer them on. Your support and encouragement are a huge part of what makes this camp such a success—we truly appreciate you!

We’d also like to thank Recreation and the team at www.penfieldrec.org for generously allowing us to use their facilities. We always enjoy partnering with you and appreciate your continued support of our programs.

🎯 This past Saturday, Astoria School of Archery wrapped up our first Winter Session of 2026 — and it was a huge success!

For the first time, we were excited to offer two Saturday sessions: a beginner group and an advanced group. It was amazing to see so many returning students continuing to grow their skills, while also welcoming new archers to the sport.

We would like to give a big thank you to all the families who participated and, as always, to Penfield Recreation for hosting us and supporting archery in our community.

I plan on introducing this concept to my students.

** SHOOTING FROM AWKWARD POSITIONS **

Understanding the fundamentals of shooting an arrow gives the archer the advantage of shooting from any position
+
In the field or in combat, the archer would find themselves in positions that broke the traditional bladed stance
+
This is why I tell people, in many instances, "stance doesn't matter". Your form matters.
+
The positioning of your feet is going to vary depending on your terrain. You may have to sit yourself in an awkward position, be crouched or even feet close together
+
None of these things should change your shot if you understand the fundamentals of making a clean shot
+
Control your arrow, get a consistent anchor, a clean release with correct body control will put your arrows where they need to go
+
Focus on your form rather than your feet
