🎶 Music Is Alive at MLES! 🎶

Our students had a special treat this week! Thanks to our music program, we welcomed artist-in-residence Jared Trudel of Trudel Music Studio in Clemson to share his passion for music with our Kindergarten and select 3rd and 5th grade classes.

🦁 K4 & K5: Our youngest musicians went on a Kindermusik Jungle adventure, exploring improvisation and vocal play.

🥁 3rd Grade: Students explored timbre and celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month through drumming, dance, and movement.

🌍 5th Grade: Students learned folk music from around the world, with several dances and drumming activities.

Experiences like this show our students that music is something to explore, create, and celebrate. We’re proud of the rich, hands-on learning our music program provides!

A big thank you to Mr. Trudel, and to Noah and Ava Trudel, for sharing their musical talents with our MLES family.

Fall Pictures were sent home recently. Each child received an envelope with a full package of pictures to review. If you are not interested in purchasing any of the pictures, simply return the entire packet to your child’s teacher. However, if you are interested in purchasing any (or all) of the pictures, simply follow the directions that are printed on the collection envelope that is included in the packet. You will have two options for payment: return money in the enclosed envelope or pay online (directions for online payment are included). The due date for returning payment and any pictures that you do not wish to purchase is this Thursday, October 8th.

Finally, if your child was not present for Picture Day, we will be doing make-up pictures on November 17th.

We celebrated our first “Family Friday” in First Grade!
Mrs. Geiger’s class is excited to bring first grade families into our classroom this year through “Family Friday!” This is such a special opportunity for our grownups to share a little piece of their families, stories, talents, and traditions with our class. We love building a classroom community that reaches beyond our four walls!

This week, Mrs. Williams kicked off our first “Family Friday” by reading a very special book written by her sister-in-law! She also surprised our class with the sweetest fall treat bags. We loved getting to hear her story, learn a special lesson about friendships, and share this special time together!

We are so thankful for our first grade families and all the ways they help make our classroom community so special!

On Mondays and Fridays, our 4th grade book club meets in the library with Mrs. Marshall, during their enrichment block. They named themselves the “Read for the Stars” Book Club. They are currently reading When Stars are Scattered by Victoria Jamieson and Omar Mohamed, which is based on a true story. Discussions are lively, and we are all having a good time reading together!

Shout out to 7 Brew Coffee for fueling our entire staff today! What a fabulous way to finish the week!
