Giles Breakfast Lions Club Lions serving the needs of Giles County, VA We were granted our official Lions Charter from Lions International on March 5, 2016. Half our members are female..

Founded in 2010 as a branch of Rich Creek Lions Club by 5 individuals interested in working to improve sight programs in Giles County,and encouraging community service in the area. Regular monthly meetings are held the 3rd Thursday of each month at 7 a.m at Pembroke United Methodist Church in Pembroke, VA. Giles Breakfast Lions Club plans at least one community service project each month. Thse may

include blood drives, vision screenings, reading at county elementary schools, planting trees with school students, assisting with other area group activities, visiting elderly shut ins at Christimas, and our Community Garden in Pearisburg to name a few. In June and August we host a flea market in Newport, VA. Our members range in age from their late 20s to early 70s. Members who can't attend a meetng due to travel, illness, or other reasons may attend via conference call.

On the evening of December 31 Giles Breakfast Lions Club lost one of our founding members, Lion Al Katz. Al was on of the five Lions forming Giles Breakfast Lions CLub 16 years ago. H was an activ member encouraging all of us in everything the club undertook. He was club secretary until his resignation from that office due to health problems. Lion Al was the first of our members to be recognized with a Melvin Jones Fellowship which is the highest honot any Lion can achieve. We will miss Lion Al very much and keep his family in our thoughts and prayers.
