🦝💚 Celebrating Our First Raccoons of the Month! 💚🦝

Yesterday, we celebrated our very first Raccoon of the Month luncheon!

Each month, teachers select students who demonstrate outstanding character through their kindness, respect, responsibility, and positive choices. These students are recognized for making Emmons School a wonderful place to learn and grow!

Our special Raccoons enjoyed pizza, ice cream, and some quality time with the principal to celebrate their accomplishments!

We are so proud of our first group of honorees and can't wait to recognize more students throughout the school year!

Emmons families — mark your calendars for Kindergarten Orientation on Wednesday, August 26, 2026!

🐾 Choose one session — 2:00 pm or 5:30 pm
Come meet some of our kindergarten staff, peek into a classroom, tour the building, and get ready for an amazing year! (This presentation is for parents/guardians only.)

Kindergarten students working with a word bank of high frequency words to complete sentences. They are working on this activity with the teacher, who is at the front of the room giving directions to the class. The students have been working diligently all year on their reading and writing skills, learning much in the process.

1st Grade students are working cooperatively in math centers. The students cycle through various learning centers while the teacher is working more individually with a small group on the math lesson for the day. The group here is working with pattern blocks and various geometric shapes. The students are having fun while learning, which is always a great goal.

Emmons 1st Grade students working with pattern blocks to solve various problems. They were working with triangles and trapezoids to determine how many shapes would be needed in certain scenarios. The students seem to enjoy learning about geometric concepts.

Emmons 1st Grade students working with the physical education teacher, Mr. Hannigan, after participating in a mini-lesson about various types of severe weather, as well as what their response should be at such times. They did some activities with the parachute to illustrate some of the high wind conditions that might exist, among other characteristics of different types of severe weather.

Emmons students are visiting the Scholastic Book Fair. The Book Fair is having a Buy One, Get One sale. Hopefully many students will take advantage of this in order to purchase books for home to continue to improve their literacy skills.
