✨STUDENT LED CONFERENCES✨

We like to have LOTS of fun at WPES, but there is also LOTS of learning happening! ❤️🖤

During our 1st 9 weeks conferences, we had the exciting opportunity to watch our students take the lead and share their learning with their families! Our students talked about what they are learning, what they are most excited about at school, and areas where they still have room to grow. They also shared their leadership notebooks, giving their families a closer look at their goals, progress, and accomplishments. Some even took their families on a tour of the classroom to show off their WIGs, leadership roles, learning ladders, and all they have accomplished in just 9 weeks!

There is something special about watching students take ownership of their learning and confidently share their progress with the people who support them the most. We are SO proud of our student leaders and thankful for our amazing teachers who are helping them grow and our supportive families who partner with us along the way.

At WPES, we are not just learning… we are LEADING! 💡🐴

🌟 This Week at WPES! 🌟

What a wonderful, BUSY week at WPES! From hands-on learning to field trips and lots of fun, our students had so many opportunities to learn, lead, and make memories!

🔬 STEAM Learning Lab: Students explored capillary action and chromatography through hands-on experiments.

📚 Reading at GoalPost: We took our reading outside and enjoyed some fresh air while diving into good books!

💦 Surprise Attendance Day: Everyone who was at school on the first day of the 2nd nine weeks got a BIG surprise — the chance to water balloon the principal and assistant principal! I think we can all agree that was a pretty fun way to celebrate showing up! 😂

🏆 Related Arts Awards: We celebrated our students’ accomplishments from the 1st nine weeks.

🦒 K5 Field Trip: Our youngest learners enjoyed a trip to Riverbanks Zoo!

🌳 4th Grade Field Trip: Our 4th graders had an adventure at the Magic Forest!

🕵️ K5 Detectives: Our little detectives were on the loose, searching for clues to figure out who stole their letter D! They even made slushies along the way!

🎂 We also celebrated birthdays, recognized World Teachers’ Day, and squeezed in SO much more!

Thank goodness it was a four-day week for students because I’m not sure what else we could have added to this wonderful, busy week! ❤️

At WPES, we are always learning, growing, and making memories together. We truly are Best in the West! 🐴❤️🖤

We couldn’t let today go by without shouting out one of the BEST at WPES—our amazing reading coach, Mrs. Mahon! ❤️📚💡

There has never been a harder worker who will do whatever it takes to support our teachers, love our kids, and help our school be the very best it can be. She is always willing to jump in, figure it out, lend a hand, and do whatever is needed. And somehow, she manages to have FUN while doing it! 😂❤️

Mrs. Mahon pours so much of her heart into WPES, and we are incredibly thankful for the important role she plays in our school family. She truly helps light the way to learning every single day!

Happy Instructional Coaches Day, Mrs. Mahon! We appreciate you, we love you, and we are SO thankful you are ours! ❤️💡📚

What a great week at WPES! ❤️ We loved welcoming our multilingual families to our 2nd Annual Luncheon as we celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month together. Our Recycling Rangers were busy collecting paper products, and our fundraiser kicked off with Mrs. Lowery’s class earning the chance to have the Silly Goose on the Loose for being our top fundraising class so far! 🪿

Some of our first graders even enjoyed Stinky Feet, and we officially kicked off our Student-Led Conferences. It was so exciting to watch one of our 4th graders confidently lead her conference with her mom. Moments like that remind us why we do what we do—our students truly are learning to lead! ❤️

We wrapped up the week with our Palmetto Football players helping welcome our kiddos to school on Friday. There is so much good happening around WPES, and I am so thankful for all the ways our students, staff, families, and community continue to Light the Way to Learning! 💡

💡 Happy Custodian Appreciation Day! 💡

Mrs. Debbie and Mr. Donnie are two of the hardest-working people at WPES. They take such great care of all of us and work hard every day to keep our school shining. ✨
