ROYGBIV Week!
Just wanted to share the lesson from this week. Last week we introduced Premiere to all of our 1st year students and was very much hand holding; create this, click that. This week however students were given instructions and had to produce a video independently.
Started off by them having 17 different assets in Google classroom that they had to download and place into their MEDIA folder on the desktop. From there they would create a project in Premiere and import them all. They were given the example and told go create.
But here's the kicker, we threw a few hidden tasks in there. The sequence was set at 1080 and the GREEN background video was 720. They had to figure out how to scale the video up to 150 without help. The INDIGO video was a png so they had to understand that it wasn't simply a video and didn't have an audio track attached. Lastly, the VIOLET video had frames of blue on the front end and pink on the back end so they had to successfully set an in and out point to place it in the timeline.
As they were doing all these tasks, students were filling out their editing sheet to help them organize their assets.
