Pelham Kali Club

Pelham Kali Club We study Creative Defense Systems under G**o Stanley Tippens, a student of the late Grandmaster Remy Presas.

This group was founded in 2009 by Manong Lawrence Wilder of Filipino Combat Systems and Creative Defense Systems. A group of like minded students and practitioners of the Filipino Martial Arts (FMA). These arts are also known as Escrima, Kali, and Arnis. They involve extensive weapons skills with the rattan stick, sword and knife. Also there is grappling(dumog), striking(panantukan), and kicking(sikaran) all integrated into a vast set of martial systems.

Hello everyone!
Due to the rising costs of, well just about everything, I have decided to increase dues to $20/hr.

If this in any way prevents you from training please come speak to me about it!

I appreciate each and every one of you and I look forward to sharing the training space with you again!

Hello, I’m G**o Leon Slappey.
I’ve been teaching martial arts for over 20 years, with a focus on developing students and building real-world self-defense skills in a fun and rewarding environment.

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to train with me?
Ever thought swinging a stick at someone’s head just… makes sense?
Interested in building practical self-defense skills?
Or maybe you’ve just always wanted to learn how to use a sword?

Here’s your opportunity.

I’m excited to announce that I’ll be teaching at a second location in the Birmingham area starting April 14th! I’ve partnered with 5 Points Fitness to bring Filipino Martial Arts to downtown Birmingham.

🕕 Class Time: 6:00 PM
📅 First Class: Tuesday, April 14th
🎉 Intro Class: FREE (one time only)

Wear comfortable clothes, bring a curious mindset, and be ready to move and have fun.

Let’s train.

No one got up and helped her. Remember that.

I just watched the full video of Iryna Zarutska losing her life…I’m heartbroken. This was taken right after she was stabbed. I will never forget this image and the fear in her eyes… No one got up to even help her. She bled out soon after…

Coming up next month.Don't miss out on a chance to train with one of the best teachers in FMA!!
