Dear District 108 Families,

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and cooperation as we worked through the transportation challenges experienced on the first day of school.

After working diligently with Alltown Bus Service throughout the day and this evening, we have determined that the current transportation situation does not meet our expectations for the safe and reliable transportation of our students. Student safety must come first, and we are not willing to compromise on that responsibility.

Therefore, District 108 will use two emergency days on Thursday, August 20, and Friday, August 21, 2026. There will be no school for students on these two days.

During this time, District 108 will continue working closely with Alltown to correct the transportation issues, verify routes and schedules, and ensure we are prepared to safely resume school on Monday, August 24, 2026.

I would like everyone to know that Jonathan Kingdon is taking over the Principal role at Starke School. I will remain here through September to serve in an advisory capacity.

Mr. Kingdon has served the District as an assistant principal for the past eight years, with administrative experience at Broadmoor Junior High School, Washington Intermediate School, and Jefferson Primary School. Starke students and families will be in great hands.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful summer! ☀️ We missed posting this photo last week, but it's too good not to share as we celebrate our country's 250th anniversary!

On Fun Day this year, Starke students teamed up with Terri from Leo's Art Studio to create this beautiful mural. Their creativity, teamwork, and school spirit shine through in every detail, and we couldn't be prouder of what they accomplished together.

The finished mural now lives in Starke's Learning Center/MakerSpace, where students and visitors can enjoy it all year long. Great job to everyone who helped bring this amazing project to life! 🎨🇺🇸

The student attendance day has changed for this coming Fall for our 6 primary buildings.

Start time will be at 8:50 instead of 8:40, with doors opening at 8:30, whether or not students are eating breakfast. We will not have outside supervision until 8:20, so please do not drop-off students until that time.

Dismissal will be at 3:20 instead of 3:10.

For students in our CBI classrooms, the school day will run from 8:35-3:05.
