Nothing remarkable happened at FOH today.

No emergencies. No heroic saves. No big technical breakthrough.

We rehearsed. We prepared. We executed.

Pretty ordinary Sunday.

But what happened in the room wasn’t ordinary.

People heard the Gospel.

People gave their lives to Jesus.

People were baptized.

Lives were changed.

And that’s the reminder we all need.

Church production can become so consumed with the work—the mix, the lighting, the cameras, the patching, the cues, the systems, the problems—that it’s easy to forget why we’re doing any of it.

The goal isn’t a remarkable production.

The goal is to faithfully use our skills, our equipment, and our teams to serve the ministry happening in the room.

Sometimes the best Sunday for a production team is one where nobody notices us at all.

Because production is the work.

Ministry is the mission.

And what God is doing in people’s lives is what actually matters.

The greatest compliment to a leader isn’t that everything falls apart when they’re gone.

It’s that ministry continues because others were equipped to lead.

If the whole system depends on one person, that may look impressive—but it isn’t healthy leadership.

The better question is: who are you developing to carry real responsibility when you’re not there?

I get asked this almost every single week: ‘What headset are you using?’

For our comms system we use the Shokz OpenComm bone-conduction headset with Unity Intercom.

Why I love it:
• My ears stay open so I can still hear the room
• I can mix audio while staying on comms
• It works great when I’m on monitors and wearing in-ears
• I can still talk to people around me without pulling a headset off

Traditional comm headsets can isolate you too much for a lot of church production environments. This setup gives me the best of both worlds.
