Empowering our members with knowledge! Pearland’s Officer Jones held an important discussion with the African American Culture Club today on what to do when pulled over by the police. We appreciate the open conversation that helped ease concerns about racial profiling and armed students with crucial information on compliance and prevention. Safety first, knowledge always.

Today was truly eye-opening at the Varner-Hogg Plantation. So grateful to have shared this powerful and important experience with each other.

Gazing at the remnants of a single slave quarter at Varner-Hogg Plantation, where 18 such brick structures once stood. These handmade bricks, crafted by the enslaved, are silent witnesses to a past where families were confined, sometimes two to a building. What stories do these fragments whisper to us today?

Amidst the ruins of the Varner-Hogg sugar mill, these handmade bricks tell a profound story. Crafted by enslaved hands, some even hold the unique fingerprint of an individual forced into this labor. It’s a powerful reminder that behind the system of slavery were countless individual lives, each with their own story, their own touch left on history.
