Next stop? Bus safety! Students at Evans Park Elementary School are getting a hands-on lesson in staying safe on the ride to and from school as part of ongoing bus drills taking place across the . Members of Chestnut Ridge Transportation led learners in properly boarding and exiting the school bus safely, crossing in front of the bus, and locating the emergency exits, first aid kits, seatbelt buckles and the driver's two-way radio. Throughout the 2026-27 school year, students will buckle up to take part in routine drills in accordance with New York State requirements.

While summer may mean time away for many, our Facilities team has been hard at work behind the scenes! From routine maintenance and repairs to preparing classrooms, grounds and essential building systems, these dedicated team members have spent the summer months ensuring that our K-12 buildings are safe, operational and ready to welcome students and staff back through the doors this morning.

This summer also brought a fresh approach to building care, with a focus on transitioning from traditional floor waxing to applying poly - a durable finish that helps protect and extend the life of our buildings' floors. Thank you to these individuals for the countless hours, early mornings, long days and steadfast commitment that helped get the District back-to-school ready!

Two days, countless ideas and one shared focus: the success of our K-12 learners! This year's Superintendent's Conference Days brought administrators, educators and staff together for meaningful professional learning and collaboration ahead of the 2026-27 school year. Administrators, educators and staff members spent time digging into the work that will shape the academic year ahead. Specialized sessions also provided opportunities for those across different roles and departments to learn, connect and prepare for the unique needs of their students and school communities.

A new crew is preparing to set sail! During Pearl River High School's Grade 8 Orientation, incoming eighth graders got the lay of the land - from meeting school counselors and receiving their schedules to touring subject wings and classrooms. After kicking things off with a welcome from building administrators, these connected with members of the who helped navigate building tours and schedules, as well as share their insights about transitioning to high school.

Their next adventure begins tomorrow, Wednesday, September 2 for the first day of the 2026-27 school year!

Every Pirate needs a map, and these soon-to-be are already finding their way! Incoming fifth graders and their families attended Pearl River Middle School's Locker Day - getting a head start on their next journey by dropping off supplies, practicing their locker combinations, decorating their lockers, exploring their grade wing and meeting with counselors and clinicians. Now all that's left is to chart the course for a new school year. See you soon, Pirates!

New faces, new connections and a new school year ahead! The wrapped up its New Staff Symposiums last week, welcoming our newest educators and staff as they prepare to make their mark on the 2026-27 school year. From K-12 building tours and professional learning to conversations with district leaders, principals and Board of Education members, team members spent the past few days getting to know the District and one another.

Setting the course for a successful school year! Before welcoming all faculty and staff back next week for Superintendent's Conference Days, district and building administrators gathered for their annual Administrative Retreat to align, collaborate and set the tone for the 2026-27 academic year. Across a series of presentations and professional development sessions, administrators dug into key priorities and procedures - reviewing reports and data, strengthening safety response protocols, discussing communications procedures and upcoming year messaging, as well as taking a closer look at MTSS goals, comprehensive assessment systems and human resources priorities.
