Have I mentioned that I'm in the new issue of Spin Off magazine yet? No I mean, like, my FACE is in it! What!?!? 😆 For real, though, go check it out! I did some lovely beach spinning in Hawaii for it and then also crocheted most of the cowl at the beach, too. It was such a fun project!

Shortly after moving to Georgia, I joined the Columbus Artists’ Guild. During my second meeting with them, they announced a new partnership with a local business, Columbus Naturals, for an Art in Public Places program, where members' artwork will be on display and available for purchase on a monthly rotation. I'm super excited to have some of my seascapes from Hawaii on the art wall through the end of September!! Doesn't it look great?

Here's that cool series of photos taken on a palm tree in the parking lot by the beach that I mentioned! I've got spun singles, finished handspun yarn, half used cake of yarn with the first three motifs, and, of course, the finished cowl. Palm trees have such great texture, don't they?

Currently on my spinnimg wheel is another sumptuous fiber from Greenwood Fiberworks. Carnival is a blend of merino, bamboo, and silk, and I think she's going to be my last summery type color for the year. It's time for some fall colors next!

If you've seen the new Spin Off magazine, you might have seen this picture in it already. 👀 But do you wanna see MY favorite picture from my beachside photo shoot after finishing this cowl?? The sun was low that morning and I kept trying to hide in the shadows of the rocks along the wall of the dock, but it just wasn't working very well. So I squinted and sun grinned my way through a series of photos that led to me sweating right through the armpits of my new white linen shirt. 😆 Perhaps the flatlays on the rocks turned out better, and I particularly enjoyed the series of photos I took during the making of this project on the palm tree in the parking lot! (more on those later) But that sun flared, messy hair don't care casual seated pose on the rocks? It feels like what it is to BE on a beach in Hawaii.

I recently finished a new fiber artwork inspired by some of the happy little yellow flowers that bloom along the sidewalks and roadsides here in Georgia. They are, most unfortunately, called sneezeweed? 😆 Unless someone knows of a better name for them??

I took a LOT of photos and video while I was spinning the yarn for this Spin Off Magazine project. Who remembers the black and white shares from way back in the beginning of this year?? Some of them were pretty cool, but this colorway, Peacock, was such a vibrant spin (thank you, Greenwood Fiberworks!) that it was really hard to keep the colors and final project a secret. But just maybe it was worth the wait!?
