The newest session of E Ulu Kākou: Hawaiʻi’s Agriculture Market Readiness Program is out—and it’s a deep dive into irrigation management with CTAHR Extension Agent Jensen Uyeda.

This series covers the ABCs of agricultural irrigation: how to estimate crop water needs using evapotranspiration and weather-station data, choose the right equipment and setup, work with soil-moisture sensors, automate irrigation, and even manage fertigation and greenhouse/hydroponic systems.

Practical, Hawaiʻi-relevant guidance for farmers and food producers looking to optimize water use and improve yields.

🐛 Sign up for VERMICOMPOST SUCCESS at our in-person Learn to Worm Workshop on Aug. 8 from 9-11 am at CARES Waiawa (Urban Garden Center)! This lively two-hour hands-on session covers worm care and feeding from bin set-up to your first harvest.

👩‍🌾 Under the supervision of veteran vermicomposter Mindy Jaffe, you will assemble all the components of a Learn to Worm Kit step-by-step. Discover what it takes to grow a thriving worm colony to eliminate household food waste and produce vermicast, nature’s finest fertilizer. Wormies are fun, fascinating, and rewarding!

🌿 Cost of the workshop is $100, which includes the kit so you can get started vermicomposting!
