Hiya UB TRIO alums! For those of you who don't already know I work for a sister program of Upward Bound, a TRIO Talent Search Program that provides college prep services to a combined 500 Waianae and Nanakuli High School students. Across the nation TRIO Programs including Upward Bound and Student Support Services Programs are being threatened by forthcoming legislation. I am currently in Washington, D.C. along with 700 other TRIO professionals to advocate on behalf of all TRIO Programs. We met with Senator Hirono yesterday (who is a staunch TRIO supporter and a previous UB employee) as well as a rep from Representative Gabbard's office (also a TRIO supporter). Now more than ever... TRIO needs your support.
I am compiling a booklet of TRIO success stories. Current TRIO directors can provide the data proving but it's really your success stories that showcase the importance TRIO Programs have had on our lives.
