It is with great sadness that I share with you the news of the passing of one of our long-time faculty members, Mrs. Helen Tom. Mrs. Tom was diagnosed with leukemia in February of this year and received a bone marrow transplant in July. She passed away peacefully with her son by her side on Saturday night.
Mrs. Tom began her career here 28 years ago, and over the course of those years, served as a lead teacher in kindergarten through second grade. She went on to support teachers in all levels, preschool through grade 6, mentoring them in the use if Montessori materials as well as providing academic and emotional support to students.
As parents, many of you were likely the recipients of her big smile and warm hug as you walked your child down in the mornings, even up to last school year. As a teacher, she had a heartfelt generosity, always finding ways to encourage children to reach their potential; as a friend and colleague, she was a prayer warrior with a deep love for everyone she met and were a part of her life. She has always been the faithful and sincerest reflection of our mission.
As one former student shared after learning of Mrs. Tom’s passing, “It is our blessing to cherish her amazing gift of kindness. She has left a legacy we have to keep alive, we have to spread the word of God to everyone just like Mrs. Tom.”
Mrs. Tom impacted our entire community for so many years. We pray comfort for her family and hold on to her beautiful spirit of Christ's love.
Sincerely,
Todd Los Baños
President/Principal

The Children’s House family suffered a great loss last week with the passing of Mr. Bert Kapela. His persistent positive attitude brought smiles to our student’s, parent’s, and staff’s faces daily. Mr. Bert truly loved Jesus, and exuded gratitude to His Savior every moment he could. We will miss his highfiving, smiling, and laughing with each one of our students as they left school each day. We love you Mr. Bert.
Nothing gets better than walking to class with a friend!
Positive Mentors play a vital role in the healthy development of children. Here are a few examples of our mentors around school..
Happy Valentines Day!
Our Kindergartners were amazing! They were the first to share the Good News of Jesus this Christmas season.
Our Annual Christmas Programs have begun and the students are excited to sing new songs to their family and friends!
Preschool picture taking is somewhat of an adventure. Getting students to stand still, smile, and not touch their hair takes skill. Help from teachers, parents, stuffed animals, and photographers are all needed (behind the scenes) to make the magic happen!
