Authentic Karate Training Center

Okikukai Northeast held its spring pretest yesterday for sixteen candidates, ranging from Shodan to Rokudan. The event spanned five hours, during which candidates demonstrated all of their testing requirements, including basic fundamentals, kata, body conditioning, free sparring, bunkai, and prearranged kumite, all of which reflect the classical testing syllabus of Uechi Ryu.

At the conclusion of the afternoon, each candidate received detailed feedback from the board to focus on over the next five weeks. We look forward to seeing everyone again in May. Keep up the strong work.

Congratulations to our very own Andrew O’Brien and Sarah O’Brien on the birth of their new baby boy. Aiden Avard O'Brien was born March 16th at 11:11 PM. He was 9 pounds, 11 ounces and 22 inches long. Mom and baby doing well. Connor has already asked 1 million questions. God Bless you all.

The first 2026 Champion for Youth awards are going out today! Congratulations to Sensei Chip & Sensei Bill for being identified by kids in Peabody as adults they can count on. This an ongoing process, so they’ll be many more to come!

I’m excited to invite you to our next Northeast Okikukai Regional Workout this Sunday, October 19th, from 9:00 am–12:00 pm, hosted at our dojo! This special event brings together students from across the association for a fun, engaging, and spirited exchange.

The theme for this session will be sparring fundamentals, with instruction led by me. We’ll work on core strategies, drills, and concepts to help you sharpen your skills and gain more confidence in your sparring.

Here’s why you should consider joining:
