Week 8: The Final Pillar of Respect – Listening!
We have reached the grand finale of our 8-week Respect cycle! Over the last two months, we have explored self-respect, gear care, honesty, confidence, and leadership. This week, we are finishing strong by focusing on one of the most powerful pillars of all: Active Listening.
At the academy, we are teaching our students that listening isn't just about hearing words—it’s about taking action. We are challenging the students all week to "Listen and React Immediately." We’ve even issued a special leadership invitation to those who demonstrate they are truly listening, proving that sharp listening skills lead to great rewards and growth.

5 Ways to Reinforce "Listening" at Home
You can help your student finish this cycle strong by practicing these five listening habits at home:
• The "First Time" Challenge: This week, focus on the rule of reacting the very first time a parent asks. Explain that responding immediately is a high-level way to show respect for your time and your instructions.
• Stop, Look, and Listen: When you are giving an instruction, encourage your student to stop what they are doing, look at you, and listen until you are finished. This builds the habit of being fully present.
• Repeat Back to Confirm: To ensure they truly heard you, ask them to briefly repeat back what you’ve asked them to do. This simple step prevents misunderstandings and shows they are genuinely paying attention.
• Model Attentive Listening: When your student talks to you, demonstrate the same "Listen and React" behavior. Show them that you are listening to their needs and responding with care.
• Celebrate the "Fast Response": When your student reacts to a request right away without hesitation, let them know you noticed! Say, "I really appreciate how you listened and got started right away. That shows a ton of respect and maturity."
