Making Headlines! ๐Ÿ“ฐ๐Ÿ’™

We are proud to see Lowcountry Prep and our new Head of School, Dr. Vannah Scarborough, featured in the Coastal Observer!

After a decade of walking the halls of LPS as a teacher and school leader, Dr. Scarborough begins this new chapter at an exciting time for our Marlin community. With enrollment up 20%, growing programs, and incredible energy from our students, families, faculty, and staff, there is so much to celebrate as we look toward the future.

As Dr. Scarborough shared in the article, โ€œWeโ€™re here for the long haul.โ€ And after more than 30 years of Lowcountry Prep, weโ€™re excited about what the next 30 will bring. ๐Ÿ’™

Thank you to the Coastal Observer and Madison Sharrock for sharing our story and highlighting the people, relationships, and momentum that make LPS such a special place.

๐Ÿ’™ Our First Marlins of the Month! ๐Ÿ’™

Today during Chapel, we were excited to recognize our very first Marlins of the Month!

Congratulations to our three students selected by our faculty and staff for consistently demonstrating character through their choices, actions, and the way they treat others:

๐ŸŸ Lower School โ€” Addison Tamsberg
๐ŸŸ Middle School โ€” Matthew Joseph
๐ŸŸ Upper School โ€” Elle Moody

We are so proud of the example each of these students sets within our school community. Character is often revealed in the little momentsโ€”doing the right thing, showing kindness, helping others, and making good choices even when no one is watching. These Marlins embody just that!

A special thank you to our Chapel Leadership Club for leading us in our first Chapel of the year and to our guest speaker, Banks Wise, for sharing a meaningful message with our students about character.

The kindergarten classes came together today for some good old fashioned CLEAN fun writing their sight words and letters in shaving cream. Thank you to our kindergarten teachers for always thinking outside of the box and making learning fun!

๐Ÿ’ก DID YOU KNOW? | The Lowcountry Difference

There are so many things that make Lowcountry Prep specialโ€”and some of them might surprise you! ๐Ÿ’™

Over the next several weeks, weโ€™re going to be sharing a little more about what happens inside our classrooms, the opportunities available to our students, and what makes the Lowcountry experience different.

First up: Did you know our AP program is ร€ LA CARTE? ๐ŸŽ“

Rather than offering the same fixed slate of AP courses year after year, our program is built around our studentsโ€”not the other way around.

Because many of our teachers are certified to teach multiple AP courses, we can tailor our offerings to the strengths, interests, and academic needs of each rising class.

Itโ€™s one of the advantages of being small enough to know our students AND flexible enough to build opportunities around them.

Small School. Big Opportunities. Thatโ€™s the Lowcountry Difference. ๐Ÿ’™

Every Monday, our Upper School Marlins gather together in the hallway to start the week with prayer, purpose, and community. Our Monday Marlin Meetings give us time to develop our monthly anchor word, celebrate our students, and stay connected as one Upper School family.

This month, our anchor word is CHARACTER.

Today, senior Lawson Angner shared about her experience at Palmetto Girls State this summer and the ways it challenged her to grow as a leader and strengthened her character.

Dr. Moore also spoke about the character traits expected of our National Honor Society members before we had the privilege of announcing and celebrating our newest NHS inductees! ๐ŸŽ‰

๐Ÿ“š Raise $50 โ†’ Homework Pass
