Just a quick reminder to those who follow this page, practice is this coming Monday from 6-8 at Lake Cora Golf a Course.

We won’t be playing, but all players need to be there for this meeting. Please invite parents and guardians too.

Also, I’ve gotten little response from the email I sent out 2 weeks ago, so please use your social media to spread the word about this!

Thanks everyone,
Coach Miller

Looking for volunteers to help out with a charity golf outing at Heritage Glenn this Thursday from 11-4.

You would be helping “run” a hole- watching for someone to make a hole-in-one on a par three, for example- so nothing that is “work.”

There is fundraising involved with this, so our golf program would really benefit from the time you spent there.

Please help out with any time you can, even if it’s not the entire time.

Let me know if you’re interested, or contact Mr. Farnquist at the high school.

Thank you! Coach Miller.

Just in case you missed it, you can get a physical at the school coming up in the near future. Here’s the info.-

SPORTS PHYSICALS @ PAW PAW HS 8/3 & 8/4

Dear Paw Paw Family and Friends,

We are excited to be able to offer sports physicals for the 2021-22 school year at Paw Paw High School next Tuesday, August 3rd, and Wednesday, August 4th, from 5:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. each night in the high school gymnasium.

The cost of each physical is $30, and can be paid with cash or check on site.

Sports Physicals are mandatory for participation in all Middle School and High School sports. If your child is planning to participate, please make sure they have a current physical (dated AFTER April 15th, 2021) on file at the high school office before August 9th.

Please don't miss out on this easy opportunity to get your physical completed and on file!

Have a great week!

Our season starts on August 9th with our first practice. Practices will be held from 6-8 pm at Lake Cora Golf Club until school begins on August 30th. Once September has come and school is in session, we will practice right after school; most likely at 3:30 or 4 (we will determine that once we get closer to the actual dates).

Some things to consider- You NEED a physical ON FILE to practice, so you will need to have one done before August 9th. If you practice without a physical and have not made a coach aware of your situation, you could be removed from the team for integrity reasons.

Girls' Golf is now a varsity sport, which changes things for how the team structure works. There will be a varsity squad made up of the top-scoring 6 players and possibly one alternate. All other players will be playing on the Junior Varsity team. Everyone will practice together and get equal amounts of time to practice, but match play will be limited to Varsity players. I am trying to set up Junior Varsity matches now and will let players know what is arranged as soon as possible. I simply can not guarantee matchplay experience for everyone at this time. BUT, you will get to play a LOT of golf (for free) as long as you come to practices.

You will need your own equipment. Clubs, bags, balls, tees, etc. are not provided, so if you need a set of clubs, please have one by the 9th. Along those lines, please do not feel like you have to spend large sums of money on new equipment. One of the great things about golf at this level is that you can find a nice set of clubs, buy used balls and get on the course for little-to-no money. Then, if golf isn't "For you," it isn't a huge financial burden/mistake.

At this time, there are no Covid-related restrictions for golf. This means, no masks are required, but if you feel more comfortable wearing a mask at any point, please feel free to do so. We also are not being required to take temperatures at this time either. BUT, all of this could change, so please bear with me and Coach Meier as we navigate through the season.

I will hand out tentative schedules at the 1st practice, but as of now, some dates are going to have to change for certain matches. We are set for 9 matches from Aug. 24th through Sept. 23rd.
Please encourage your parents/guardians to attend the first practice with you (we will not be playing any golf at the 1st practice) so that are informed of things they need to know (golf etiquette and parent expectations) and have an opportunity to ask questions if they have any.

Feel free to pass this on to anyone who is interested, but not included on the list of recipients. Also, feel free to ask questions at this time as well; I"ll do my best to answer them.

Thank you and I hope to see you and your parents on the 9th,
Coach Miller

Ladies…Please keep in mind that our season begins in August, and until it begins, all players MUST PAY TO PLAY at Lake Cora Golf Club. There is an inexpensive ($150) membership available for the summer if you’re interested.

Please be kind to the folks at Lake Cora; they all do a lot for both golf teams and we want to preserve that relationship.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation in this and have fun playing this summer.

Thank you to La Cantina from the PPHS Girls’ golf team for providing the excellent meal at our team banquet. Ava and her crew are all so very kind and supportive of our local teams and we can’t say enough to recommend them for all they do AND for their wonderful food too! Thanks a million, La Cantina!

Good evening everyone. For tomorrow’s banquet starting at 6:30, please be aware that, since this a school-sponsored function, we will need to adhere to social distancing and mask guidelines.

We will set up tables so that players are with their family and guests, so there will be 12 or 13 tables available. Masks will be required until we start eating and we ask that people socially distance as much as possible.

I was not able to get in touch with Ava at La Cantina today, so I still don’t know cost for family members’ meals, but I will find out tomorrow afternoon and get that info out ASAP.

Meals will consist of pasta, meatballs and sauce and garlic bread.

Thanks and see everyone tomorrow at 6:30 at Red Arrow Ministries (just in front of the high school).

10/19/2020

Tuesday October 27th, put it on your calendar! At 6:30 pm (6:30-7:30) in the wonderful confines of Red Arrow Ministries, right next to the high school, we will have our Team Banquet!

Pasta and meatballs supplied by LaCantina of Paw Paw. Thank you to Ava at LaCantina for donating the pasta and meatballs for the girls.

If any family members would like to join in the festivities, please do. (There will be a small charge for family members to cover additional charges).

I need an RSVP with number of people coming by Sunday so I can order any additional food that might be needed. We are getting food for 15, and wil have to cover any additional costs ourselves.

Coach Matt and I will hand out Letters and certificates that night, so please come and let’s enjoys each other’s company one more time this season.

See you all then!
