Our first Forest School day of the year! Such amazing sunny weather to kick off an amazing session.

✨ We welcomed in a new session with the making of a community stone soup together over two styles of fire. Hands were busy chopping, cutting, grinding, stirring, tending the fire, and gathering firewood as the forest kitchen came to life.

✨ We partook in sensory games and quiet moments listening deeply as the sounds of spring begin to awaken. Feathered friends calling, frogs singing, and the breeze moving through the trees.

✨ We had a special delivery of stone soup and a shared storytelling time between the older Forest crafters and the dwellers.

✨ Such beauty witnessing the children navigate time and space together, speaking clearly about their wants and needs while caring for one another.

Grateful for such a lovely day in the forest. 💖

Meet the Guides!

(left to right)

***Victoria Monigold is a mama of three children with a diverse background in Waldorf education, primitive skills, and permaculture design. Once upon a time before children, she adventured the Sierra Nevada mountains with her father, fostering a deep love of the natural world.

Influenced by Waldorf Education since childhood, she helped establish two beautiful Waldorf-inspired nature preschool and homeschool co-op communities while living in Southern California. Since relocating to Southwest Michigan, she earned certifications in early childhood education and the Michigan Master Naturalist program. She has been actively involved as a forest school guide since 2022.

Victoria is passionate about cultivating the spark of joy for learning through storytelling, creative expression, and connection with the surrounding natural world.

**Larissa Touloupas is motivated by connecting youth and young adults with the natural world—whether among trees or on the farm. With over a decade of experience working with children, she brings deep wisdom, warmth, and creativity to every program she leads.

From serving as a nature program director at summer camps to guiding in wilderness therapy settings, Larissa has worn many hats, all rooted in her love for nature-based education and mentorship.

***Rhianna Warick believes in the healing power of interconnection with nature. She has studied Forest Therapy and loves using the tools she learned to help kids connect with the natural world around them.

Her backyard is a food forest, built using Permaculture principles. She is a Michigan Master Naturalist and amateur forager and enjoys helping kids discover the abundance all around them. Rhianna wholeheartedly believes that education can extend far beyond traditional schooling.

In 2012, Rhianna started the first nomadic-style daycare in Israel – a style of exploring changing outdoor locations on a day-to-day basis – which is still in practice to this day. In her spare time, Rhianna loves off grid camping, hiking, kayaking, making herbal medicine and sharing the fruits of her garden.

Our first two weeks of Forest School have been filled with wonder as new students joined in and the gifts of fall are welcomed in.

✨ Archery arrived! A huge thank you to Mr. Dom for guiding the children and sharing in the code of honor.
🔥 Fire-making offered lessons in persistence and the importance of preparation before the spark.
📖 Journals were crafted for use during sit spots.
🍂 Camouflage and the brilliant colors of fall wildlife came alive in our explorations.
🌳 The forest revealed the many changes that unfolded since summer.
🧚 A fairy village is beginning to take shape!

And this is just the beginning—there is so much more magic ahead.
