REMINDER:
Free developmental screenings for any child from birth to age 5, are being held at Wind River Elementary School tomorrow (August 27) from 9 am to 3 pm. Areas to be screened: communication skills, vision and hearing, gross and fine motor skills, cognitive and behavioral development, social and emotional growth, and self-help skills.
Bring your little one in for a screening! Please come to the elementary office to check in.

Water is good to go! However, High Plains Power recently notified us of a planned power outage at Wind River and Crowheart Schools on September 11, so we can no longer use it as a makeup day. Instead, we will make up the missed days (August 18 & 19) on October 2 and October 16.

After hearing from the town of Pavillion that the "boil" order had been lifted on Saturday, the district started flushing water lines at the Wind River Schools campus that afternoon. Monday, as a precaution, a water sample from campus was taken to the lab. The results will not be available until noon-ish Tuesday the 25th. As we go back to school on Tuesday, we encourage staff and students to follow best practice by using soap and/or sanitizer when they wash their hands. Drinking fountains will be covered or turned off. Bottled drinking water will be available. We are 99.9% certain our water is fine but we want to be 100% certain before allowing access to drinking fountains and water bottle fill stations. If our lab results are not favorable, we will send students home and re-assess the situation.

Student-Athlete Parent Meeting Updates

Tonight we will hold another virtual parent meeting for Student-Athletes and Parents. HS Parents must attend one of these meetings in the year for their child to be eligible. It is encouraged for Yth/MS parents to attend. Another in-person meeting will be held tomorrow (8/25) before the 9-11th grade parent meeting.

The EPA has lifted the boil order in Pavillion. However, the school holds a lot of water in it's pipes that will need to be thoroughly flushed out. With the building water shut off there has been an adverse effect on our water system that we've been monitoring as well. Custodians will return Monday to clean and prep the school for a restart on Tuesday as planned.

Town of Pavillion Water Update
August 19, 2026

The last report from town officials is good news. Things are progressing well. However, the Wind River Schools campus will still be closed on Monday, Aug 24, 2026. Students who regularly attend the Pavillion campus will continue with virtual education. The plan is to return Tuesday, August 25 to the campus. Should things change we let you know. The In-Person Student-Athlete Parent Meeting has been moved to next Monday (8/24) at 5:30pm. REMINDER that this meeting is mandatory for all HS Athletes to be able to compete.

The meeting scheduled tomorrow has been changed to a virtual meeting. Use this LINK to access the meeting.

Wind River Schools - Pavillion Campuses

Parent/Guardian/Student:

Based on information that we currently have regarding the town of Pavillion’s water crisis, the district will be providing virtual instruction (asynchronous and synchronous) to students Thursday, August 20 and tentatively Monday, August 24. This is in accordance with district policy IDA: Temporary Virtual Education (TVE).

The missed student contact days, August 18 (today) & August 19 (tomorrow), will be made up September 11 & October 2. These will be regular school days for all employees and students.

Materials and electronics that may need to be sent home will be collected for parent/student pickup between 5:30 PM & 6:30PM in the elementary school commons. More information will follow from your child’s classroom teacher as needed.

Crowheart will continue with its regular schedule.

High school level athletic practices will continue as scheduled at the regular after school time. No middle school or youth practices until further notice.

Again, there is no school for students on Wednesday, August 19. TVE, aka. Virtual education, will take place Thursday, August 20. More information to come as to whether or not we are in-person Monday, August 24. We are hoping that the repairs go smoothly and quickly!

Due to the ongoing water issue in Pavillion, school is not currently in session in Pavillion; however, Crowheart School will remain open and operate on a normal schedule.
Please note the following updates regarding our athletic and extracurricular practices:
High School Practices: Will proceed as scheduled at 3:30 p.m. Bottled water and portable restrooms will be provided on-site for student-athletes. Please note that no transportation will be provided for these practices.
Middle School & Youth Practices: Canceled until further notice.
We will provide another update this evening regarding tomorrow's school day. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
