🎉 CONGRATULATIONS, LYDIA FLINDERS! 🎉

We are incredibly proud to congratulate Lydia Flinders on earning her American FFA Degree — the highest degree a member can receive in the National FFA Organization! 💙💛

The American Degree is not something that happens overnight. It takes years of dedication, hard work, leadership, and commitment. To earn this prestigious degree, FFA members must complete an outstanding Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE), demonstrate leadership and FFA involvement, complete extensive FFA and agricultural activities, and meet rigorous requirements set by the National FFA Organization.

🏆 Less than 1% of all FFA members ever earn the American FFA Degree! That makes Lydia's accomplishment an incredible achievement and one that she can be proud of for the rest of her life.

Lydia, your hard work, dedication, and commitment to agriculture and FFA have truly paid off. We are excited to celebrate this tremendous accomplishment with you!

👑🎉 Congratulations to our South O’Brien FFA members who competed in the O’Brien County Fair King & Queen Contest! 🎉👑

We are incredibly proud of King Alex Griebel, Queen Abby Woodall, Princess Lindsey Einck, John Puhrmann, and Graci Bruns! 👏💙💛

All five did an outstanding job representing South O’Brien FFA and O’Brien County! It takes confidence and courage to step outside your comfort zone and put yourself out there, and this group did a fantastic job! 🙌

And what a busy couple of weeks for Abby! 👑 At the NW Iowa Showdown, she had the opportunity to be right in the middle of the action, helping represent O’Brien County and getting to hold those BIG champion trophies as the winners came through! 🏆🐮 Talk about a pretty good job to have! 😄

Then it was off to the Iowa State Fair Queen Competition, where Abby once again did an outstanding job representing O’Brien County! 👑🎡

🐄🔥 Woodbury County Fair Livestock Judging! 🔥🐄

Another livestock judging contest in the books—and our South O’Brien FFA members judged about as good as they have all summer! 👏Unfortunately, a couple of other teams decided to judge out of this world! 🚀😂 That’s livestock judging—sometimes you can have a great day and still run into some VERY tough competition!

👏 Ryleigh, Mckenzee, James, Brennan & Brynlee — 5th Place Junior Team

🌟 Senior Division
🥉 Kailee — 3rd Place Individual with an awesome 292, dropping only 8 points!
🏅 Gabe — 7th Place

🌟 Junior Division
🏅 James & McKenzee — Tied for 4th Place
🏅 Brennan — 6th Place
🏅 Ryleigh — 7th Place
🏅 Brynlee — 9th Place

And then there was Mr. Kumm… 😂 He tied for 13th place, but he definitely ran into a BUZZ SAW of adult competition! 🔥 The top adult score was an incredible 296—and THREE adults tied with that score! 😳 It took a 287 just to crack the adult top 10!

So maybe 13th place doesn't sound quite so bad after all! 😂

And when we weren't busy judging, we got to see some llama and alpaca showing at the fair! 🦙 What a fun way to add a little variety to the day!

🍦 Of course, after all that judging, we had to celebrate with some well-deserved ice cream! Because nothing fixes a tough set of livestock classes quite like ice cream. 😎

We only have a couple more contests left this summer, and it has been an awesome summer of livestock judging! These members have put in the work, stepped outside their comfort zones, learned from every class, and made A LOT of progress since we started. 📈👏

The biggest win isn’t always the trophy—it’s seeing students gain confidence, learn how to handle the pressure of competition, and keep getting better at every contest.

Proud of this group! 💙💛 Keep working, keep learning, and keep chasing that next placing. We may not be there YET, but we’re getting closer! 🐷🐑🐄

🔥🐄 Another Outstanding Day for South O'Brien FFA Livestock Judging! 🐑🐖

Talk about a busy day! These South O'Brien FFA members started the morning by selling their livestock at the O'Brien County Fair Livestock Sale before loading up and heading to the Sac County Fair Livestock Judging Contest for an afternoon of competition.

A huge thank you to the parents and families who helped make today possible. Fair week is already a hectic time, and we truly appreciate everyone who pitched in, adjusted schedules, and took care of responsibilities at the fair so these members could compete. Your support plays a huge role in their success, and we couldn't do it without you!

Their dedication continues to show. These students have put in some hours traveling to, and competing in, contests throughout the summer, and with each one they continue to grow, improve, and gain confidence in their livestock evaluation skills.

One of the greatest things about livestock judging is that you won't always see a class exactly the way the official judge does. That's what makes each contest a learning experience. Everyone is evaluating the same classes and working through the same challenge. The important part is continuing to learn, improve, and trust the process. These members have done exactly that all summer long, and it continues to show.

🍦 And, of course, no trip home would be complete without a stop at Dairy Queen for some well-earned ice cream after another successful day!

The South O'Brien FFA livestock judging teams made the trip to the Crawford County Fair today to compete against some outstanding competition. It was a great day to challenge ourselves, learn, and continue building experience for the season!

To top off a successful day, we made our traditional stop at the world-famous Denison Dairy Queen for some well-deserved ice cream. Nothing tastes better after a day of livestock judging! 🍦

Tuesday took the South O'Brien FFA Livestock Judging Team to the Sioux County Fair for another stop on our summer judging schedule! 🐄🐖🐑🐐

Competing for South O'Brien FFA were Ryleigh, Noah, Karlee, Tyler, Jaelyn, Kailee, Jasper, McKeenze, and Hunter.

While we didn't hear our name called during the awards ceremony, the day was still a success. Sioux County only announced the top two teams and top two individuals, so we're still waiting on the complete results to see where everyone finished. Once those placings are released, we'll be sure to share them!

Every contest is an opportunity to gain experience, sharpen evaluation skills, and learn from a new set of livestock. Success in livestock judging isn't measured only by ribbons—it's also measured by the knowledge gained, the confidence built, and the improvement made from one contest to the next.

We're proud of the effort, determination, and positive attitude this group continues to show throughout a busy summer judging season.

Another successful day yesterday for the South O'Brien FFA Livestock Judging Team! 🐄🐖🐑🐐

It was a long, but rewarding day as our members spent nearly 10 hours on the road, competing at both the Ida County Fair and Cherokee County Fair Livestock Judging Contests. From leaving at 11:00 a.m. to returning around 9:00 p.m., our members had the opportunity to evaluate cattle, swine, sheep, and goats while competing against some outstanding judging teams from across the area. Every contest is another chance to sharpen their evaluation skills and gain valuable experience.

And, just so the students don't get all the bragging rights... 😄 Chapter Advisor Mr. Kumm managed to sneak into the adult division, earning Champion Adult Individual at Ida County (we'll keep the number of contestants a secret! 🤫) and Reserve Champion Adult Individual at Cherokee County.

Congratulations to all six team members on a fantastic day! The placings are exciting, but even more important is the experience gained by evaluating a wide variety of quality livestock and continuing to build confidence with every contest. We are proud of the effort, focus, and teamwork this group continues to show.

The summer judging season is off to a great start, and we're looking forward to carrying this momentum into the next contests. Keep up the great work, Wolverines! 💙💛
