Join us for AWI’s first annual Adirondack Lake Mixer & Awards Celebration as we honor Guy Middleton, Executive Director of the Upper Saranac Foundation, with a 2026 Adirondack Watershed Impact Award!

For decades, Guy has been a dedicated leader in protecting the health of Upper Saranac Lake and advancing science-based stewardship of its watershed. We’re excited to recognize his tremendous contributions and celebrate the people making a difference for Adirondack waters.

The Chateaugay Lake Foundation was honored to host New York State Senator Dan Stec at the Boat Launch yesterday. We provided an update on our ongoing efforts fighting invasive Eurasian watermilfoil on (and our recent successes), discussed the importance of the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation-funded and Adirondack Watershed Institute-run Boat Steward program (including its discovery of zebra mussels on a boat coming from the Southern Adirondacks earlier this season), and highlighted the good working relationship we have with our surrounding towns, counties, and especially our partners at the Chateaugay Lakes Association. Finally, we discussed several challenges (including the need for increased state funding for efforts like ours) and threats we are tracking on the horizon (such as Harmful Algal Blooms and the importance of the NYS Septic Replacement Fund Program - ensuring both our Clinton and Franklin County lake shore owners are eligible for this important program). Throughout the North Country, dedicated individuals and organizations are protecting the waters we all enjoy. Whether they're restoring shorelines, monitoring water quality, educating their community, preventing the spread of aquatic invasive species, or inspiring others to care for our lakes and ponds, their efforts deserve recognition.
This year, AWI will be honoring an individual and an organization with Adirondack Watershed Impact Awards for their dedication to caring for our waters. Help us celebrate those who are making a lasting impact on the health of our watersheds.
