The Honorable Sean O’Keefe, Deputy Undersecretary of War for Personnel and Readiness, and leadership from the Personnel Readiness Management Agency visit the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute at Patrick Space Force Base, Fla., Aug. 5, 2026.

The visit focused on DEOMI’s mission and capabilities provided to the Department of War and explored methods to leverage the staff's expertise to expand support across the total force.

As we commemorate Juneteenth this week, let us reflect on its profound significance in American history. This day marks the official end of slavery in the United States, a pivotal moment catalyzed, in part, by the actions of the Union Army. On June 19, 1865, Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced General Order No. 3, declaring all enslaved people free. This act, delivered by the military, initiated the long and ongoing journey toward equality and justice for all.

The military's role in delivering the promise of freedom underscores the importance of our mission here at DEOMI. We are committed to fostering a culture of dignity and respect within the Armed Forces, ensuring that every service member is valued and treated fairly, regardless of their background.

Join DEOMI in celebrating Master Sgt. Clayton Forbes!

We are incredibly proud to share that our very own training manager, Master Sgt. Clayton Forbes, was recently recognized by Chief Master Sgt. Javier Gonzalez, Senior Enlisted Airman for Space Launch Delta 45, for his outstanding support of the installation.

Forbes went above and beyond by coordinating the United States Space Force 100 course. This vital program ensures that Delta personnel possess a deep, foundational understanding of space systems and how they are leveraged in global Joint military operations.

Furthermore, despite a critical manning shortage,he has stepped up and continues to actively support the Delta—demonstrating the true meaning of "service before self."

Thanks to his dedication and hard work, our force remains mission-ready and prepared to dominate in support of the U.S. Department of War .
