Rooted Moon Artistry

Rooted Moon Artistry Local potter Predominantly creating in clay and on canvas, she never sets boundaries or limits her processes in any way.

When she's not molding mustaches onto pigs, native Long Islander Lisa di Stefano pulls her artistic inspiration from the earth, the sky and all things in between. She is forever honing her skills and seeking new forms of collaboration. Studio Manager at Bay Shore's Earth n' Vessel Pottery Studio and former Teacher's Assistant at The Drawing Studio L.I., Lisa's artistic passions drive her daily in

all she does. She feels that there are few things more rewarding than working directly with students--getting to handle their work and learning how they express themselves artistically. Eager to continue her artistic journey, Ms. diStefano welcomes the opportunities, challenges and curiousities that await her in 2014.

Back to making test pieces, this time testing Amaco Dipping and Layering line. With this line of glazes they are in dry form, which you mix yourself with distilled water. The glazes are based from the most popular of the Potter’s Choice & Celadon lines. They can also be layered with those lines. This one was my favorite from the bunch.

Fired cone 6, fast speed, 8 min hold.
Base glaze: DL 1 Ebony then top coat bottom half DL 42 River Moss, top half DL 33 Low Tide

I am all out of small vases, so I will be throwing more this weekend.
