Mental Health Awareness Month🌟

This month happens to coincide with the yearly return of my Summertime Sadness aka reverse seasonal affective disorder. This seems like a good time to be vulnerable and share my diagnoses. It took nearly 30 years and many forms of therapy for me to be able to admit and talk about my diagnoses at all. So many of us struggle and there is no need to suffer in silence. In my experience, it exacerbates my symptoms and manifests as physical ailments when I hold in my feelings. C-PTSD, major depression and panic disorder do not define who I am as a person. They are a part of me and I accept that I must live with and try to overcome the limitations they cause me. They don't make me unlovable or unworthy and neither do your diagnoses or mental health struggles. Along with traditional therapy, Somatica coaching can teach us to recognize and take responsibility for our triggers, communicate effectively and listen and share with empathy.

Happy mothers day! Complicated is an understatement when it comes to my relationship with my mother. She has been gone for 12 years and it took me all that time to unlearn the ingrained, internalized homophobia, racism and misogyny that was passed down through the generations. I love and honor my mother for doing the absolute best she was capable of and creating some beautiful memories. I love my mom forever with everything I've got.I hope you are able to enjoy this day and celebrate your choices; whether you choose to cut off a toxic parent, make amends with one that hurt you, forgive one that abandoned you, make peace with deceased parents that you were not able to make peace with on this plane of existence, come to terms with and challenge your shortcomings as a parent, show your kids more love and understanding than you were ever taught, this is not easy and I am proud of you. Happy mothers day 🌼 🌸 🌻
