Eight minutes into her program, on-air reporter Christine Chubbuck spoke these ominous words, “In keeping with Channel 40’s policy of bringing you the latest in blood and guts and in living color, you are going to see another first--attempted su***de.”

Seconds later, she pulled out a revolver and shot herself in the head. The station quickly faded to black, but thousands of people in central Florida witnessed the first su***de aired on television in 1974.

Chubbuck’s family knew that she was struggling with depression. Her brother believes that she likely had bipolar disorder, which was far less understood and accepted at the time. She wanted to get married and have a family, but she had no luck with relationships and recently had an o***y removed.

A week before she died, she told a coworker that she had bought a gun and was thinking about killing herself on-air. Sadly, he never took her seriously. He claims he assumed it was a sick joke.

Since Christine called it an “attempted su***de”, could that mean some part of her was hoping to survive the bullet wound? Do you think the coworker she confided in about her suicidal thoughts should have been held responsible in some way?

The notion of extrasensory perception, has fascinated us throughout history. It includes phenomena such as clairvoyance, telepathy, psychometry, precognition, and many other things that are often referred to as psychic abilities.

Some people assert that they’re able to read others’ minds, although scientists and laboratory research haven’t necessarily proven that to be the case. Others claim they can predict the future, see the distant past, or sense events happening at a great distance.

At times, we desperately want the powers of ESP to be real. Even serious police investigators have called upon people with forms of ESP to try and find bodies or solve crimes.

Alcatraz Island is surrounded by very rough, cold waters, and was a federal penitentiary designed for maximum security. If you tried to swim away, you would drown.

Then in June of 1962, inmates John Anglin, Clarence Anglin, and Frank Morris went missing, leaving dummy heads made of plaster in their beds. By the time authorities caught on, they were long gone. Officials never liked to talk about the fact that the construction of a raft had gone on undetected.

The feds closed the case in 1979, and the escapees were listed as probable drownings. In 2013, the FBI received a letter from an 83-year old John Anglin that claimed all three of them had survived the escape, and he was willing to turn himself in if they treated his cancer.

But was this letter real, or a hoax as the FBI claimed? The feds kept this letter secret for five years, claiming it was phony and only written to embarrass law enforcement.

In 1518, a woman began dancing in the streets of Strasbourg, France. She continued without music, day and night for six whole days. As she continued, amazement turned to concern. Then, the manic dancing began to spread to more citizens.

The city declared the episodes were a natural disease caused by hot blood. With a plan to have the dancers dance the illness out of their systems, musicians played and a giant stage was built for the dancers.

Instead of helping the dancers snap out of it, more people joined in the dancing. Around 400 people danced nonstop even as they started dying from exhaustion and heart attacks. After one full month and dozens of deaths, the dancing faded away, and life began to return to normal.

There are multiple accounts of mass dancing hysteria in Medieval history. Theories focused on food contamination are now largely discredited. There have always been multiple theories about the dancing craze, but now the focus is on some kind of mental breakdown.

The sight of citizens dancing until their feet bled, until they collapsed and died, must have been an image no one could ever forget… and we still don’t have any clear answers about what caused it in Strasbourg that summer…

On December 3rd of 1926, one of the best-known mystery writers, Agatha Christie, had fought with her husband, who was having a relationship with another woman. They both left the home that night, going their separate ways.

She left a note about going to Yorkshire. Her car was later found off the road with only an expired driver’s license and some clothing left inside…

Her disappearance rocked a nation, and fifteen thousand people volunteered in the search. Ten days later she was located, in Yorkshire, quietly staying at a hotel under the surname of her husband’s girlfriend. She claimed amnesia, and two doctors signed off on that diagnosis.

She chose to make no mention of the episode in her autobiography, and speculation about her disappearance abounds. She took the truth about those 10 days with her to the grave.

If you think about it, nothing is more basic to humans than the drive to be creative. From the discovery of how to make fire to the flight of modern planes… from diverse cuisines all over the world to medicines that cure disease… someone had to have imagined it first.

Amber had turned down a five-year plea deal, insisting her husband’s death was accidental. The jury disagreed, and sentenced her to twenty-five years.

At police headquarters after Josh’s death, a tearful Amber couldn’t stop babbling. She occasionally uttered phrases like “I killed him,” or “it’s my fault.”

Amber is gone now, due to su***de in 2016 in her prison cell, leaving her child an orphan.

In June of 2011, Amber Hilberling got into some sort of tussle with her husband, Josh. He was larger than her and known to be athletic.

They were in front of the picture window of their high-rise apartment in Tulsa, Oklahoma when the altercation took place.

Josh crashed into the window, shattering it, and fell seventeen stories to his death. Amber, a young mother, went to prison for his murder.

You read that right… he completely faked the existence of an entire restaurant by deceiving people on the internet.

Butler pulled this off through social media and having friends leave fake reviews about the food and the service.

Butler’s story went viral, and his book “How to Bullsh*t Your Way to Number One” made it onto multiple bestseller lists.

A young man by the name of Oobah Butler created the top-rated restaurant in the entire city of London.

Of the city’s 18,000 restaurants, it became the number one restaurant on the popular TripAdvisor’s travel website.

For months, it was nothing short of a sensation, all over the internet… gaining reviews like “Five Stars!” and “You absolutely MUST dine there!”

However, there was something different about this restaurant, something no one would have expected just by reading the reviews…
