Shotokai Karate began as an affordable community project for the youth of Passaic County on April 28th, 2018 at NJ Fitness Passaic. While helping students develop self confidence, grow mentally & as individuals, it had also grown internally as adult classes were implemented due to interest in what we offered. Thank you everyone from our past to today. It was an amazing journey together. Our physical dojo mY no longer be, but our Dojo Family is forever. That is beauty of martial arts. Watching each other grow in life, succeed & achieve as well as the binds and memories we create.

Thank you NJ Fitness Passaic for giving us a home and your support for over 5 1/2 years.
And most of all, thank you Sensei Toyotaro Miyazaki. Without you we would have never been. I hope I made you proud as we honored your legacy bringing it to others that will hold onto it forever and maybe one day share it with others. May you have smiled on our time & today.

Tonight’s final class for .s._shotokai took place. It was bitter sweet working with some of my longest students during my time. We smiled, we teared, we hugged. Tomorrow, I expect much more for the final farewell. As much as it hurts, I am filled with joy & pride of how far these students came…as people.

It is with the heaviest of hearts I publicly announce at the conclusion of our Dojo Christmas Party tomorrow, U.S. Shotokai Karate will be closing it’s doors.
First and foremost I’d like to thank my wife who supported my dream. You believed more than I did on many occasions. You were and always are my waking breath & daily inspiration.
I’d like to thank Shihan Kai Leung for the guidance & support before this journey began and through it’s entirety.
My oldest students and dearest friends David “Doc” Fagan, Joaquin Esquilin & Nelson Diaz. For ALWAYS being there for over 30 years, believing in me.
Thank you to every student and parent that became a part of our Dojo Family past and present. We will forever be family.
Thank you to Luis Salomon of NJ Fitness for also believing in me, giving us a home for over 5 years & doing so much for me personally.
Thank you to all of our followers & supporters.
Tomorrow we bid farewell. But, let it be with tears of joy not sadness.
