Da'ehu is a new Montessori school in Passaic/Clifton with a mission to teach the whole child to know Hashem and give children the academic, social and emotional foundations necessary to become caring innovators in a world which is increasingly lacking care and innovation. Da'ehu seeks a loving, intelligent and creative head teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. The first year will be a mixed-age three- and four-year-old program, which will, IY"H, grow to 3-5 year-olds with the school growing all the way to 12th grade over time. The eventual collaborative team of five head teachers will be responsible for the tuning and adjustment of a student-centered and hands-on integrated curriculum designed to release the sheer fun of authentic learning. This is an opportunity to take bottom-up ownership of the classroom in a progressive work environment designed to unleash the sheer fun of teaching. Montessori training will be provided.
Responsibilities:
Close observation of students to understand their individual educational needs as demonstrated by students' choices in their learning environment.
Day-to-day adjustment of the learning environment as dictated by the above observations.
How-to demonstrations of the correct procedures for engaging in developmentally appropriate learning activities.
Supervising and facilitating as necessary students' development of a portfolio of accomplishments.
Tracking and logging students' mastery of requisite skills as evidenced by their successful completion of authentic learning activities.
Qualifications:
A role model of ahavas Hashem and ahavas hab'rios.
Have experience caring for 3-5 year-old children.
Possess an understanding of and appreciation for Child-Centered Education.
Curiosity about the surrounding world.
Growth mindset and dedication to the objective.
Formal "traditional" classroom experience is not necessarily an advantage
Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications.
