Look up!👀

The Sun has fired off several solar storms known as Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs). These are charged particles that, when they interact with Earth's magnetic field, can ionize gases in our atmosphere, creating the Northern Lights!🌌

The Tri-Cities may be able to see them sometime Thursday night into Friday morning (weather permitting). This event is best viewed from a dark-sky location. Some auroras can be faint and may only be visible through a camera. 📸

¡Mira hacia arriba! 👀

Look up!👀

On May 31st, we will witness a rare micro blue moon! Blue moons are not actually blue — they are simply the second full moon in the same calendar month. This is something that only occurs once every 2 to 3 years.🌕

This event will also coincide with a micro moon. A micro moon occurs during a full moon when the moon is at its furthest point from Earth.🌎

Moonrise is at 7:22 PM on May 31st.⏰️

Don’t miss this celestial event!🌌
