🚀 We officially launched the 2026–2027 school year by celebrating our incredible staff at the 2026 All Staff Expo & Rally!

Team Pasco employees came together to reconnect, celebrate and get ready for another year of putting students first. A huge thank you to everyone who helped us welcome Team Pasco back, including our cheerleaders, drumline, and our Lobos and Ochoa mascots!

Our talented students also helped make the Rally unforgettable with performances from:

Welcome to Emerson Elementary, new Assistant Principal Linnea Banta!

Linnea brings an incredible 21 years of experience with Pasco School District to her new role, having served students and staff as a teacher, instructional coach, and assistant principal.

For Linnea, one of the best parts of working in education is the relationships she has built along the way and the opportunity to celebrate success alongside students and staff.

“I love the relationships I have been able to develop with students and staff. Being able to interact with students in all areas of the school and support teachers as they work to support their students is incredibly rewarding. Seeing the joy students and staff have when they experience success is one of my favorite things.”

As she begins this new chapter at Emerson, Linnea is looking forward to the opportunity to continue growing as a leader while building relationships and supporting the entire school community.

It’s the best week of summer — fair week! 🎡🐷🐮

Superintendent Michelle Whitney spent time at the Benton Franklin Fair visiting and celebrating our incredible 4-H and FFA students as they showcased months of hard work, dedication, and learning.

From raising and caring for animals to preparing for competition and sharing their knowledge with the community, these students demonstrate responsibility, perseverance, leadership, and pride in everything they do.

We are so proud of our students and love seeing them shine beyond the classroom. Congratulations to all of our 4-H and FFA participants on a great week at the fair!

Please join us in welcoming José Cruz as the new Principal of Emerson Elementary School!

Mr. Cruz brings 16 years of experience with Pasco School District, serving students and families in a variety of teaching and leadership roles. Throughout his time in PSD, he has served as a second- through fourth-grade Dual Language teacher, Testing Facilitator, Reading Intervention Specialist, and most recently, Assistant Principal at Emerson Elementary.

Now, Mr. Cruz is excited to begin this new leadership role and welcome students and families back at Emerson while building on the strong sense of community within the school.

“I am excited to welcome students back, reconnect with families, energize our staff, and remind everyone that they are part of something meaningful. There is nothing quite like seeing our school come alive and knowing that every interaction can help a child feel seen, supported, and inspired to soar to new heights.”

Please join us in welcoming Julie Wheeler as the new Assistant Principal at Stevens Middle School!

Julie has served Pasco School District for nine years in a variety of teaching and instructional leadership roles. Throughout her time in PSD, she has served as both an elementary and middle school teacher and as an instructional coach, supporting students and educators across multiple grade levels.

Now, Julie is excited to begin a new chapter at Stevens Middle School, where she looks forward to building strong relationships and helping create an environment where every student feels connected, supported, and challenged to grow.

“What excites me most about beginning this new role is the opportunity to build relationships with the students, staff, and families at Stevens. I’m excited to help create a school where every student feels a strong sense of belonging, is challenged to grow, and knows there are adults who believe in them. I can’t wait to become part of the Stevens community!”

For Julie, the most rewarding part of education is watching students discover what they are capable of—seeing them grow in confidence, recognize their strengths, overcome challenges, and begin to see possibilities for themselves they may not have seen before.

Please join us in welcoming Danielle Sharpe as the new Assistant Principal at Pasco High School! 🐾

Danielle has served Pasco School District for seven years in a variety of teaching and leadership roles. She began at Pasco High School as a Career and Technical Education (CTE) teacher, primarily teaching Robotics and Computer-Aided Design (CAD), and later served as a PLC Facilitator, Peer Mentor, and Administrative Intern.

She also helped shape one of PSD’s newest schools as a member of the Orion High School Planning Team. During Orion’s inaugural year, she served as a Health Sciences teacher and Lead Teacher, supporting schoolwide initiatives, student programs, and instructional systems while also co-advising SkillsUSA.

Now, Mrs. Sharpe is excited to return to Pasco High School in a new leadership role and continue serving a school community that has played an important part in her own journey as an educator.

“I am incredibly excited and grateful for the opportunity to serve Pasco High School in this new role. PHS has been an important part of my journey as an educator and leader, and returning as an Assistant Principal feels especially meaningful. I look forward to reconnecting with students, staff, and families, building new relationships, and contributing to a school community that I am very proud to be part of.”

Amy is beginning her fourth year with Pasco School District after spending the past three years serving as Assistant Principal at Stevens Middle School.

For Amy, leadership is about creating a school community where every student feels a sense of belonging and has access to the opportunities and support they need to thrive. Her approach centers on building bridges, removing barriers, and creating safety nets for students and families.

🎉 Welcome to Ray Reynolds Middle School, Principal Daniel Horn!

Dan has spent the past three years serving as Principal of Emerson Elementary and brings a wealth of experience in school leadership, professional development, instructional coaching, and teaching. Before joining Pasco, his roles included Senior Director of School Support with Achievement Network, Professional Development Facilitator with UnboundEd, principal and assistant principal positions, instructional coach, and 4th and 5th grade bilingual teacher.

For Dan, the best part of education is building relationships with students and watching them grow.

💬 “I am excited to get to know the students and support them this year. I love connecting with students and seeing them grow and improve throughout the years. It is always a joy to meet students years later and see how much they have learned through their schooling. Seeing their success is the best part of the job.”

Please join us in welcoming Marissa Mejia as the new Assistant Principal at Captain Gray STEM Elementary! 🚀

Mrs. Mejia brings 12 years of experience in Pasco School District, serving students and staff in a variety of roles, including bilingual teacher in second, fourth, and fifth grades; middle school AVID elective teacher; math and science teacher; instructional coach; and AVID Site Coordinator. Her diverse experience has given her a strong foundation in instruction, student support, collaboration, and leadership.

She is excited to join the Captain Gray community and build meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families while working alongside a team committed to ensuring every student feels supported, challenged, and inspired to reach their full potential.

For Mrs. Mejia, the most rewarding part of education is seeing students discover what they are capable of achieving. She believes deeply in lifelong learning and the power of educators and families working together to create lasting opportunities for students.
