“I want a place where kids in small-town Mississippi can go to learn and perform in professional standard costumes and production.”
Those words from Mrs. Joann are at the heart of why we do what we do. She believed children all over the country deserved the opportunity to experience the arts in a way that felt beautiful, professional, and special.
This year, her granddaughters, Mary Emma and Sarah, attended Tutu School in Charleston - the same place Mrs. Joann once attended. They brought home new skills and inspiration and have spent the last few months handcrafting beautiful tutus, costumes, and headpieces for our dancers. Last night, our Board and Auxiliary Board members gathered to see their work and begin preparing for this year’s production and fundraisers.❤️
It was so special to see Mrs. Joann’s vision continuing through another generation, surrounded by a team of former dancers, longtime members, new faces, and community members who all believe deeply in bringing the arts to children in our community.
From artistic talents to organizational binders, it takes so many hands and hearts to make this production happen, and we are so grateful for every one of them.
The legacy continues.
