At the Opportunity Center, we believe in celebrating students who exemplify our core values!

Each week, we recognize a Student of the Week who demonstrates respect through their actions, integrity in their choices, and self-discipline in their personal and academic growth.

These students continue to stay focused on their goals, make positive choices, and take ownership of their success. They are showing us what it means to be empowered for their future.

We are incredibly proud of all of our students who were recognized during the 1st Nine Weeks! Your hard work, growth, and commitment do not go unnoticed.

Congratulations to our Students of the Week! Keep making us proud! 👏💙

A huge thank you to Devin Fortenberry for taking the time to come back and speak with our students!

A 2022 graduate of Pascagoula High School, Devin shared his journey after high school, including his experiences at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and earning his degree in Finance from Ole Miss.

Devin challenged our students to choose their friends wisely, set high goals, and remain disciplined in pursuing those goals. He reminded them that success doesn’t happen by accident but it takes intentional choices, hard work, and consistency.

As a financial planner, Devin also shared valuable lessons about budgeting, managing your money, and investing for your future. These are life skills that our students can begin putting into practice now.

We love bringing former students back to share their experiences and show our students what is possible. Sometimes the most powerful lessons come from someone who was in high school not too long ago.

Thank you Devin for investing in the next generation and reminding our students to dream big, work hard, and plan for their future! 💙📚💰

It’s always special when a former student comes back to visit!

We were so excited to welcome Nubian Hammond back to the OC! Nubian took the experiences and lessons he gained during his time at the OC and used them as motivation to help shape his future.

After graduating from Pascagoula High School, Nubian is now pursuing his dream of becoming a professional boxer.

We are so proud of you, Nubian! Best of luck in all your future endeavors. We’ll be cheering you on every step of the way!

A huge thank you to Dr. Bobby Ghosal with Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College – Jackson County Campus for welcoming our students and giving us such an amazing campus tour!

Our students had the opportunity to explore the campus and learn more about the many career and technical programs available, including welding, robotics, process operations, and more. Dr. Ghosal shared valuable information about academic requirements, potential pay scales, job placement after graduation, and what students can expect as they pursue these careers.

For quite a few of our students, this was their first time ever stepping onto a college campus. What an incredible experience!

Our goal is to expose our students to more opportunities, help them discover different career paths, and show them what is possible beyond high school. Because you can’t become what you don’t see.

It's important that we take our students places. Let them ask questions. Let them dream big. Help them see what’s possible so they can become who they’re capable of becoming.

The possibilities are out there. We just have to help our students see them. 💙🎓

A big thank you to Jessica Henry from MS Gulf Coast Center for Nonviolence for joining us at the OC as our guest speaker! 💙

Our students had an important conversation about what it means to be a good friend, the difference between healthy and unhealthy relationships, setting healthy boundaries, and so much more.

It’s so important that our students learn how to be good friends not only to others, but also to themselves. Learning to recognize healthy relationships, set boundaries, and practice self-respect are skills that will serve them well both now and in the future.

Thank you, Jessica, for sharing your time and wisdom with our students! 💙

Dear Parents and Guardians,

One of the Pascagoula-Gautier School District's most recent accomplishments is our transition to a fully online student registration process. This move allows families to complete registration more conveniently from home while helping the district improve efficiency, accuracy, and communication. Online registration also enables us to better plan for staffing, transportation, scheduling, and student services well in advance of the school year.

Registering your child on time is one of the most important steps you can take to ensure a smooth start to the school year. Early registration helps schools prepare class schedules, assign teachers, arrange transportation routes, and ensure that all necessary resources are in place before students arrive on the first day of school.

At this time, only 56% of our students have been registered for the upcoming school year. We appreciate the families who have already completed the process and encourage all others to do so as soon as registration reopens.

While registration is currently closed as we prepare for the next phase of enrollment, online registration will reopen on June 15, 2026, for new students to the district and for returning students who have not yet completed registration.

Please be aware that there will not be designated face to face registration days this year. All registration will be completed through the district's online registration system.

We understand that some families may need assistance navigating the online process. To support those families, the district is currently planning registration help days and assistance locations where staff will be available to provide technical support and answer questions. These sessions are designed to help families complete the online registration process and should not be confused with traditional face to face registration. Additional information regarding dates, times, and locations will be shared soon.

Thank you for partnering with us as we continue working to make Pascagoula-Gautier School District the district of choice for students, staff, and families. Your timely attention to registration helps us provide the best possible educational experience for every child.

Together, we remain committed to our mission of preparing Learners Today, Leaders Tomorrow.

Sincerely,

Dr. Caterria B. Payton
Superintendent
Pascagoula-Gautier School District
