A nonprofit community art center with a mission to nurture our community and its young people by creating, learning, and presenting art to advance equity and social justice. Our mission is to nurture our community and its young people by creating, learning, and presenting art to advance equity and social justice. The Armory is neither squarely an art museum nor an art school. Each part informs and compliments the other. Our exhibitions are a focal point for our education programs, inspiring young people to make art in our studio. Likewise, our nationally recognized teaching methods inform how young people and adults learn about the themes and ideas found in our exhibitions, which are always open at no cost to the public.

Thank you to everyone who joined us last Thursday for the opening of Nurtured Flames: The Medicine of Fire. ❤️‍🔥 We’re so grateful to everyone who came out to celebrate the artists, spend time with the work, and share in this special evening with us.

What does democracy look like to you? 🪡🧵 Join us for our 2nd Quilting Bee: Quilt for Democracy on Saturday, September 26 from 10 AM – 12 PM – a community quilting project celebrating the many faces, voices, and values of democracy.

Create a square that reflects your vision of democracy through stitching, painting, appliqué, embroidery, or whatever creative process inspires you. No quilting experience is needed. Beginners, artists, activists, and the quilting-curious are all welcome!

Join the Armory and Jericho Road Pasadena for Creative Wellbeing Through Visual Art: Connection and Togetherness— an evening of artmaking and reflection created especially for nonprofit staff and community volunteers who have been deeply involved in wildfire recovery work.

Together, we’ll customize a shared journal, with each participant contributing a page to create a collective keepsake to take home. No art experience is necessary. Just come ready to slow down, create, and spend time with others who understand what this season has been like.

Thank you to everyone who joined us this past Saturday for our Batchelder Tile Making Workshop with artist Anais Franco! 🏺

Together, we explored designing, carving, and glazing while creating our own tiles inspired by Pasadena’s rich Arts & Crafts history and the work of Ernest Batchelder. It was wonderful to see our community come together through clay, creativity, and collective making.
A special thank you to Anais for sharing her practice with us, and to everyone who helped make the afternoon such a thoughtful and creative space. 💛
